You know , Al Pacino, the Italian-American Hollywood legend.I know it might be difficult to pick one out of so many wonderful performances , but , if you were to pick only one , which would it be ? Note that I want your opinion on his best performance only , it doesn't necessarily mean it's in the best or most famous movie he participated in.

I love him in all of the mentioned titles, particularly in Scarecrow, as a father who'd go crazy and catatonic if he found out his son, whom he waited 5 years to see, was stillborn. This ,plus his line to Gene Hackman :

"You know something ? I think you're gonna be real sorry when you find out I didn't do anything. That it wasn't my fault.Real sorry."

made Francis "Lionel" unforgettable for me.So what about you ?

Insomnia. Christopher Nolans best film as well imo. No lame ass M. Shyamalan plot twist or overlong terrible pacing. Robin Williams is also really good in it.

Scarface. He literally made that movie.

Thought Scarface was a bit over the top and campy. Which is great, but it's much easier to do than something like the subtle and nuanced internal conflict in Insomnia,

Impossible to decide. I can't think of a role that Al Pacino did not excel in. Nevertheless if I were made to choose I'd sat Insomnia.

Hmm...looks like Al in Insomnia is loved by many.Honestly I thought Robin Williams was showing off the shining performance in that movie, but ,well ,that don't mean Al wasn't great in it !

You ain't seen The Panic and Scarecrow ? Shame , I'd like to know how you'd rate Al in them. And 7/10 for Al in Justice For All is pretty goddamn unfair , he was ten itself in that movie.

I can't answer that, it's too hard. It would have to be between Godfather, Scarface & Heat. Him & De Niro in Heat were masterful though man.

@elkoldo: And justice ran a close second to me. Scarface showed the most transformation of character, but And Justice was passionate, after his client hung himself, that last closing argument turnaround killed it.

"you're out of order! you're out of order!"

Fuckit. Its a tie tween And justice For All and Scarface. That ending...daaaammn.

It is polite when people use the spoiler block feature whenever possible to avoid spoiling a movie for fellow forumites.

Good score, mine is about a metre in length... and the posters pretty long too! XD

Got the giant poster laminated years ago.

For some reason I was reminded of this video, someone uses an Al Pacino soundboard and prank calls a white gangsta wannabe. A lot of it is from Glengary Glen Ross, funny stuff.

He's great in just about anything he does BUT my favorite scene is in Godfather 72 where he tells Sonny rather chillingly "it's not personal. It's just business." and his face sort of "hardens" and he turns into "scary/business" Michael that he'll be in 2 and 3. WHEW!

lol at people that say scarface, Such a terrible movie. Though for some reason is really popular amongst ghetto trash. AKA the same folks wearing yankees hats despite knowing nothing about baseball.

I don't even need to look at the poll results to know that Scarface is probably the winner, but my favorite is Scent of a Woman. That ending speech stands up there as one of the all-time cinema greats.
