Did you see the original 1970's version or whenever it came out?

Edit: It was 1981, I was close :P

Looks like a "meh" movie but I might see it when I feel like kicking back and watching mindless action.

I find that hard to believe. The original didn't exactly set a high bar in any catagory.

The new one has no soul/ emotion. It is just a mindless action flick, whose action sequences aren't even inspiring, but just dull. If you're going to make a big budget action flick with a ton of CGI, you need to at least make sure that they have a soul.

Maybe it's just the nostalgia factor. I remember watching clash of the titans when I was a kid. Thought the clockwork owl was the coolest thing ever and those claymation scorpions were awesome.

THats just it, the old one was more or less around the same lines.. Its not like they had a lot of material to work from based off the original.

It might depend on what you saw first. I, like you, prefer the original. The '81 version took a lot of creative liberties with the myth, and the remake could have gone a new direction. Instead, you get regurgitated regurgitation with the remake.

I don't know...the original just had so much charm. The new one just felt like a cheap Hollywood movie that gets forgotten after it's first weekend. The original is a classic for a reason.

The original is a "classic" because we all saw it as kids. Looking at it now, with nostaligia glassses off, it's really kinda crappy.

Well we're still talking about the original 30 years later. I doubt we'll ever speak of the remake 5 years from now outside of mentioning that there was a remake.

We're talking about the original because we're in a thread about the remake. Before the remake who often was the original talked about, especially as a "classic"?

I find that hard to believe. The original didn't exactly set a high bar in any catagory.

It certianly raised the bar on owls in films.

Uh, this was always going to be a trilogy. Sam W said that after fan response from the first film that they were taking that feedback to try and make the second film better. And I want to see Bill Nighy and Liam Neeson.

What I didn't get from the first one is why did Zeus tell all of the other gods to leave so he could give the order to release the kraken? I mean, it's not like all the other gods aren't gonna be like "OMG, who in the world (ahem, olympus) could have done that even though the only one who can give such an order is Zeus! IDKKKKKK!!!!!"
