...your nephews baby who would die if a another compatible doner could not be found in time??

Also you are a single parent to a baby girl, sadly your partner died a while ago :(

So think of the risk

I'd like to think I would. Don't think I'd be able to let a family member die, especially a baby.

By your second sentence I'm thinking you're referring to the risks? Apparently serious side-effects to liver donation aren't that common. Being the sole responsible for your daughter makes you extra careful of your own health, and for a good reason, but letting someone die to prevent complications that might not happen...it's a messed up choice...

No I'm not.

I think he meant it as "Would you do it if you were a single parent to a baby girl?"

@deeliman: I assume so but can't help it; I have a soft spot for thegerg...when everybody else gets tired of certain people's bullshit and decide it's not worth calling them out any more, thegerg is always willing to step up and pound on them, for days if needed, until they shut the hell up and leave. I think he provides a valuable service to OT, which makes it worth dealing with his "too literal" personality. Also, he's a softie =D

It's the only organ in the body that regenerates itself. So, yes, take as many chunks as you need (assuming it has time to grow back).

While I don't have a soft spot for the guy, I do agree with you that his place is necessary here on the board. Coming from someone who's been "gerged" a few times, the dude does know his shit, even if he is the "king of semantics". When engaging in a debate with gerg, one has to really be on the top of their game and make sense of what they're saying - so, in that respect, he does help us form our thoughts a little better.

@jasean79: Yep, the few times gerg got his attention on me one of 2 things happened...I explained my point without allowing for doubts about what I meant and he accepted my explanation, or he showed me I was talking out of my ass and I granted him the point. Either way, it was on me, not him, so I have no reason to dislike him.

@ShepardCommandr: Of course you have the right to your choice, but I'm curious why you'd let the baby die.

Of course and not sure why anyone would say no. It's a fairly routine procedure with very little risk to the donor and the part removed will grow back in about 6 months.

Because then his life will finally have meaning and he wouldn't be able to complain about how insignificant he is on the forum anymore? :D

@com123pop: I've actually used that site to buy a few games, although I won't anymore read reviews of people getting keys that's don't work on it.

Not worth the risk.

On topic of course as I would, I wouldn't let a family member die if I could help

@korvus: I've already had a epic run in with thegerg, and although we have exchanged mild minor insults, I hope there is no hard feelings, and I look forward to more debates/discussions/arguments with him.

@xeno_ghost: He doesn't seem to be the kind to hold grudges...to him, discussing is not personal, he just enjoys giving people a hard time XD

@comp_atkins: Is that so hard to imagine? I'm 29 and my oldest niece is 22.

@comp_atkins: I never mentioned the sex of the single parent.

What does it matter how old you are?

your brother or sister could be X amount years older than you.

Depends if my liver is healthy or not because I don't want to be the reason why some kid dies of complications. Most likely, sure since I know it will grow back and I know its healthy ATM....

I'm sure your liver wouldn't be used for the transplant if it wasn't healthy.

Yes, for someone I loved and cared about, for sure. You can regrow your liver, and I don't drink at all and avoid most medications if I can help it, so I'm in really good condition to be giving a piece away and growing some more.

I would have to know, though, that should something happen to me, that people would step up and care for my child.
