Would you be a good representative of earth?

If you came across landed alien's and they offered to take you to their planet so they can learn about us, would you be a good ambassador? If not who would you recommend they take?

I wouldn't, I can barely spell and get car sick. I'd send Steven Hawking. Since they are advanced they could probably cure him as well.

A world leader would probably just attempt to make deals beneficial to their region rather than the world. The aliens are smart so they would see it.

Since I am an ISTJ, I doubt it. The aliens and robots would think that all humans are square people who are responsible and then get shocked when they meet humans who are not like that.

If there were beings capable of interstellar travel existing in the same window of time of humanity (very unlikely), they would likely be more advanced that the human race will ever become. They'd see us as primitive in much the same way we perceive ants on an anthill. Communication would be unlikely because their evolutionary conditions would be so different.

In a fictional scenario, however, I'd probably choose Dan Aykroyd since he has pondered these ideas so extensively.

@zeroyaoi: Hed fit in any role, so im sure hed play the lone wolf prisoner who steals all their tech and reports back to earth for further instructions. Of course if he can get the tech peacefully, his job will be easier. But if not, hell have to be careful for hes a long way from home.

Leo would be banging aliens on some interstellar yacht within 10 minutes, tops............

BranKetra: It's a taxi cab thing, limited time. The aliens are friendly looking. it could be a ruse, although they probably don't need one, and could easily kil you and overwhelm the military iif they wanted to, suggesting good intent or at least tolerance until they learn more, in which case they might change their mind or opt not to bother with any future contact.

That is even more reason to have a plan and stick to it. Refusing dialogue can be as important as engaging in it.

I'll go and stay with them and give them false information about Earth that will keep them from coming back to Earth and subsequently sending me back as well. That is all on the assumption that aliens will have empathy.

I think I would! I'm level-headed and well-balanced and I'm a fairly decent communicator.

It would depend whether or not they use the probe, how long they probe, and how big the probe is.

Well, I tend to be a reserved communicator (aka "shy") and think rationally, so no, I don't really represent the chaos that is humanity.

I mean I'd be good for earth, aliens would be like "Hey, he ain't so bad" and then they'd meet the rest of the world and be like "Wait, what happened. We gotta go. We left our space coffee maker on..."

If aliens looked at humanity, most of what they would see would be people jerking off. I wouldn't blame them for keeping distance from us, if for nothing else than not getting sticky.

Half of my life consists of going to school for radiography and playing video games. Therefore no.

I actually read a pretty decent article some time ago about how to deal with aliens should one ever have such an encounter (which of course is highly unlikely). A lot depends on whether or not you would be able to speak the same language. Since this is unlikely you should show them that you can do basic math problems, draw a diagram of our galaxy letting them know that we understand our place in it, make sure they return you in a populated area, etc.

So yeah I think I would have some idea on how to deal with it.
