Governments doing this do you think?

Edit: Well, it could be anyone, but evidently someone doesn't want this released (as we all know). What's your opinion on this?

It's going to be interesting to see how this affect diplomatic ties.

Well since its particulary damaging to the United States gov't i wouldnt be surprised if its Washington who ordered Wikileaks to be hacked.

Plus I'm glad Wikileaks is doing this. The governement shouldnt hide things from their people.

There's a lot of patriotic nerds out there, wouldn't be surprised if one of them did it. Also wouldn't be surprised if the government did.

Even if that could potentially damage other allied nations trust? We have enough conflict as it is.

Most of it is just over sensationalized stuff. They don't really release much that isn't common knowledge. The media just needs something to talk about for a couple of days until something else worth talking about happens.

News organizations already have the documents...so it really doesn't matter. This is why I doubt the government was involved. What would be the purpose of bringing down the site when you already know several news organizations already have the content.

let's wait and see. According to BBC, this release is about the US embassies assessments of Israel, Russia, UK and other countries. Sounds interesting enough to me, unlike the Iraq/Afghanistan releases.

Apparently one document said Hilary Clinton asked for people to spy on other countries ambassadors.... And something about Saudi Arabia wanting the US to attack Iran. Going to be interesting, that's for sure.

The documents have already been released by different websites in condensed form, but not fully by Wikileaks. Its clearly going to get some people pissed. Italy is fuming already.

That's why they shouldn't "plan" a date to release the documents and just do them randomly. Obviously the Government is going to shut it down.

It's like the guy on Sky has been saying, it's stuff that people suspected, but having it wrote down and on paper is different. Sky just said that NYTimes are saying that Iran have missles from NK that can hit Western Europe....

The good thing is that if anyone happens to die over these leaks, we can blame Wikileaks.

With information comes responsibility, something I doubt these people care too much about.

I don't know if people are ignoring this, but how in the world can such political documents lead to the death of people??? I mean if it were tactical documents or military-related stuff like the previous releases then I would agree, but this? seriously.

I think it's just going to make diplomatic ties very strained (potentially) between the US and allies.

I see no problem with a government being held accountable for the things it says and does. I don't like the idea of leaking military strategies but it doesn't seem like that happened this time, just crap the US government has been doing and finding out that it didn't want to tell anyone.

its a possibility, although I think its naive to think that politicians around the world do not already know this. Either way this kind of information can't get people killed.

I'm not talking about these this leak, although this leak still has consequences. Mainly lack of trust and morale in the government. As well as strained relations with countries. Those two things are never good during times of war.
