why do people talk down of themselves ?

i do that sometimes it's cuz i have low self esteem. ppl dnt understand why they always tell me how pretty i am and how smart i am but i just dnt see it.:(

They're a humble, good person, they're actually depressed, or they're fishing for compliments.

I always do it in a humourous way. It's the only time when my jokes can't offend others. :P

I'll jokingly make fun of myself from time to time but never really talk down of myself. That doesn't make any sense. :?

i think he's like that cuz ppl used to tease him for how he looks and stuff like that in school or in his family, the same thing happened to me too but finally they stopped but ever since then i keep thinking that way about myself maybe he is the same way dnt know.

Some people just aren't happy with who they are. I'm one of those people.

Either because they are humble or have low self esteem. I like to think I fall on the former category.

It can be a number of things... a possibility I don't see mentioned is a genuine sense of humor about ones self.

For me it is more my habit of being brutally honest about alot of things, especially myself....

i just do it because i hate a lot of people that constantly brag about themselves and i don't want to be anything like them.

Some people have low self esteem and others just want to praised so it's a false putdown.
