In fact, having to use electronic ice cubes to tell you when to stop drinking just might be a sign you're a dumbass. A high tech dumbass, but a dumbass none the less.

My sister graduated there last year, but unfortunately she doesn't seem to want to be cool like that, nor does she want to get a real job and move out of the house :(

She graduated with a 4.0, and if you must know, she went a little bat sh*t crazy during her last semester. Something happened to her, and she hasn't been the same since. No motivation, breaking down into tears a lot, temper tantrums (I'm serious, it's pathetic). All I know is that her friends stopped being her friend for some reason, which may or may not be the reason for such a change in her behavior.

Do we really live in a world where people need glowing ice cubes to make sure that their drinking behaviour is safe?

When people don't have enough self control then they have to rely on technology to help them along. This device goes into the same category as condoms and birth control. Instead of simply not participating in those activities, people create technology to help them along while doing it anways. It makes no sense to me, especially considering the huge risk people are taking when they do these things even with this man-made technology. But i guess if people want to continue being irresponsible then they can go right ahead. Its their choice and their life.

That is just stupid. The only people blacking out on alcohol are absolute drunks knowing they will be in that condition and 13 year old kids drinking for the first time.

This comparison/analogy, whatever you want to call it, is pathetic

They really aren't, based on my experiences. A lot of people who make incredible things come from MiT, but it's still a small portion of their student body. That being said, getting into and graduating from MIT is still an accomplishment.
