I like the one where they are traveling across the frontier with the immigrant women (the father and son cowboy I mean) it was all right and the movie was good too

i assume you've read louis l'amour books? you might want to check out shane. if you haven't checked him out, pehaps you should. he is one of the best selling western writers in some aspects for good reason.NathanHawkinsYes I have read nearly every one of his books, although not that one, along with some other authors
I've never read that one, who is the Author?I like the one where they are traveling across the frontier with the immigrant women (the father and son cowboy I mean) it was all right and the movie was good too

I don't really like to categorize it, but if I had to choose, I'd put it under "ownage".MoonSpoonWhich tells me nothing:| Besides I was talking about books and not movies
although not a traditional western, consider the gunslinger.NathanHawkinsAre you referring to Stephen King's Darktower Series?
Westerns?!? WESTERNS. The west is bad. I prefer to read about the exciting and just lives of communistic citizens in such great tales as "A Day in the Life of Ivan Solinivitch" - the pages practically brim over with excitement.sonicare
I absolutely love the Sergio Leone westerns but i havent read them. I'm not sure if the same magic of a western movie can be captured in a novel.I've always prefered books over movies

Try Cormac McCarthy. He'll blow your little mind wide open. Best. Westerns. Ever. Start with All the Pretty Horses.MahlerFreakThanks for the suggestion but I think my simple little mind if offended by the "little mind" comment
[QUOTE="thenarkallaptar"]I haven't read "little house on the mesa"double_deckerWho's the author? I don't even know if its a book, I made it up. I sorta ripped off "Little house on the Prairie"

In the general sense of movies yes, but the basic attraction of westerns for me are visual and audio experiences.. Sweeping camera angles and original scores. Extreme zoom up on character's faces and great one liners said in an authoritative voice. I just don't know if the written word can convey the emotions i feel when watching a Western.steeeeeeveperryI suppose, but movies always seem to lack alot of detail
