I wasn't exactly sure where to post this since one's primarily for gaming while another's primarily used as a cell-phone so I guess this one will do.

After finding out in the latest GI issue that the iPhone -- much like the PS3 -- has 2 different SKUs priced at $599.99 (8 gb) and $499.99 (4 gb), I figured this would be an interesting question to ask since both gadgets share the same business model. 

So which would you buy, a PS3 or an iPhone?

Well I have a phone, and I have a 30gb iPod, and I have no use for a PS3 at this time.

PS3 because I don't need an iPhone. Well, I don't need a PS3 but I want one more than the Iphone which I don't want at all.

iPhone since I already have a ps3 but if I didn't I would probably choose a PS3-AlbertC

same here.

I will probably buy an iphone eventually...I'm a sucker for big screens on my gadgets :oops:

the iphone of course, the ps3 doesnt have any good games coming out resistance is the only game worth playing.

I don't have a PS3.....yet but if I were to choose, I'd pick the PS3 because of the exclusives such as FFXIII, White Knight Story, MGS4, R:FoM, Eye Of Judgment, Makai Wars as well as getting a cheap Blu-Ray player. I don't need an iphone because I have an ipod and a blackberry to fill all the needs an iPhone can provide....and at a lower price.

Its the fact that it runs OS X that's making it so expensive among the other technologies like Bluetooth and GSM technology.  You also get a 2 year contract with Cingular to boot.

If I had to choose I'd get the Iphone because I already have a 360 and a gaming computer.

But surely comon sense dictates that they should cut out the 2 year contract, and maybe make an OS for the phone itself so they can cut the price down?

Neither, but if I had a gun to my head I'd go for the PS3: the iPhone is basically everything you don't need.. on the move. Oh, and you can call people too. The last thing I need is a highly overpriced gadget that I can lose/get stolen at any moment. The PS3 is also a highly overpriced gadget, but at least it doesn't try to do everything, and it sits at home, so you don't constantly have to worry about losing it.

I have no need for a cell phone so at least with the PS3 I'll get to play Heavenly Blade and I wouldn't have to wait for Virtua Fighter.

Chances are, the people that will buy the iPhone have everything that's in it, maybe not the cell phone web browser though. But still, it's so useless that anyone who buys it should just be laughed at.

I think we get a bit more with a PS3. The iPhone will be hot for 6 months whereas the PS3 will be around for 6 years.

I would never buy either of those, but I would side with a PS3 instead of an iPhone. Because a PS3 is actually WORTH IT.

I would never spend my hard earned cash on either. However, if I had to choose a coupon for a FREE one or the other, I would probobly choose the PS3.
