I have a 2012 Mustang GT coupe right now that I got in 2011. I like the redesigned 2015 Mustang. I want the 2015 2.3 convertible Mustang. I know the 2.3 Eco Boost engine will be a downgrade to my 5.0 V8 GT. The price will be more than the GT because the convertible is about $5k more. The total with the options I want is about $40k. For $40K there are many other cars available. I want a convertible because I never had one and I love the look of the new 2015's. Which car would you buy for 40 grand...assuming you're going to spend the whole 40 grand.

Im not big into expensive cars. I like practicality, i own a 2012 ford focus hatchback manual transmission. U.s.

If i was going to blow 40k on a car, I'd get a subaru wrx sti manny trans.

@polishkid99:

I'd rather get the regular WRX. The 0-60 difference between the WRX and STI is only something like .6 seconds.

I also really like hot hatchs, but i dont know any that go for around 40. Sti used to but that's strictly a sedan now. That .6 secondss i worth it if i have all intentions of spending 40k for a car:p!

I would not buy another new car. I would buy used from reputable dealers and save my money for retirement.

@GTR12:

When they redesigned the wrx for the 2014 model year they manufactured only a sedan worldwide. Recently there have been spy shots of a 2015+ wrx hatch.

Assuming I had the money, I'd get myself a nice 4WD again.

Oh well, I'm not into the newer Subies anyway, I'd take a Golf R for 40k.

For $40,000? I'd pick up a late 1990's Peterbilt 379 EXHD with a CAT motor for $25K-ish, do an in-frame rebuild on the motor ($12.5K), and put the rest into some cosmetic improvements.

If I have to choose a passenger car, then probably a fully loaded Jeep Patriot 4x4. Don't get the appeal of a sports car as a daily driver.

I don't get it. If you are all that concerned about zero to 60 times and track times, couldn't you do better with $40,000 with a used Corvette?

For $40k? I'd buy a loaded AWD Toyota Sienna minivan.

@XaosII:

Well, I'd still want new technology, four doors, a hatch, and awd. It's just an added bonus that it's kinda fast.

Probably a Ford F-150 or the new GMC Canyon looks pretty good.

Nothing American. *Shrugs* Just a preference. I would be perfectly fine with an Audi A5.

Uh, I don't know about US prices...

Last 4WD I had (91 Pajero) wasn't too bad though. Got some decent distance out of it.

It would be a hard choice, but i would either get a new Charger, or a CRV of some type, but good looking one.

With the speed at which new deposits are being found, and the constantly improving efficiency of the current infrastructure, it's hard to see them going back up again anytime soon. Especially also considering the last hike was caused more by artificial inflation from outside the oil market itself.

Oil is one of the few supply-and-demand driven markets in the world... and supply is starting to far overtake demand.

Not that it means we should just all switch back to 1970's era technology and get 1-3 mpg in our daily drivers... but the price of oil is not going to be rising naturally to where it was a few years ago for a while. Not to mention modern 4x4's are anything but gas guzzlers. The new Dodge RAM 1500 gets 41mpg highway with the V6.

I remember 10 years ago when they were celebrating 15-20 mpg highway in the same truck (and it was smaller then too).

Who cares. It's comfy as hell (for both driver and passengers) during coast to coast driving. The Sienna is also the only AWD minivan here right now. So, it's a no-brainer.

I'd get a 75' or older project muscle car for $3000 or less then spend the rest of the money restoring that bitch!...

Or get a cheap 00-05 car and save the rest for something more important...

40k is way too much to spend on a vehicle.
