Sorry if this has been done before, but Lost seems to be one of the most loved and hated shows ever made.  I personally love it.  I think most of the complaints about the ending are silly, though I can understand dissapointment and wishing for a different ending.  With that said, I love the whole "why did it end in a church?" argument.  It is kinda silly since the end was about death in a sense and obviously churches are a typical place to hold funerals.  Not only that, but there were some strong spiritual, religious, faith themes in the show from the get go.

So what do you guys think of the show as a whole?  For me it is one of the best ever made.

overall i liked it even though it was all just  written on the fly with no real planning or overall sense of direction.

what i didn't like was the last couple of seasons getting boring and that you knew exactly what happened to them 5 mins into the first show.

it give a pretty big pass to most tv shows because in the end they are just tv shows that i will enjoy for a bit then  forget about.

A show my wife and I want to watch one day, but haven't found the time. I watched the first 15 minutes of the first episode and then never stuck with it.

I like it, better than a lot of television, especially on the networks.

jimkabrhel

It has a very quality feel, almost as if it should have been on HBO or Showtime or something.  The cast is very good and it just mixes so well.  Honestly it is a bit surprising that I love the characters (or love to hate) so much, since a handful of them are on other shows now and are dissapointing to me.  With that said, I do love Person of Interest, which has one of the main characters from Lost as a main character.

I strongly reccomend it.  Also, and I wont spoil anything, but watching it two times gives you more appreciation for the later seasons I feel.  Not only that, but many people misunderstand things that happen in the story, especially closer to the end.

A show that had a really good first two seasons before the writers collectively killed themselves.

I never watched it but I have a friend who despises that show now because of the ending. I chose the middle option due to this.

When I hear 'lost' I think of the book The Lost by Daniel Mendelsohn, it's a pretty decent memoir.

They waffled between scientific and supernatural themes. I was disappointed that they settled on a supernatural ending.

I only saw the first 8 or so episodes but I was pretty sure it wasn't going to go anywhere. I wasn't going to waste tens of hours on a mediocre show like that.

haha im actually watching it right now. sister is trying to catch up to where im at. im on season 6 episode 8 i believe. my sister is still in season 4. so am watching it with her cuz there is nothing else to do.

i am really enjoying it. big fan of J.J. Abrams.

though i did find parts of the middle- to later part of the series to be lackluster and kinda off course as to what the show originally was.

A disappointment. For the first few seasons I was hooked, never missed an episode. But then I began to get tired of all the mystery and no explanations and I just gave up. I quit sometime before they got off the island and all that time travel or whatever. I never did find out how it ended.

People that were disappointed with the ending, aren't smart enough to understand the show. The fact that it's been off air for almost three years and people are still buzzing about it, proves just how amazing it was.

It was less time-travel as it was dimension jumping. Super confusing last couple of seasons. The first 2 seasons were some of the best television out there. Then the last seasons happened.

That was literally one of the most stupid things I've ever seen. Practically all of these questions were answered if you actually watched the show.

My Super Power is being able to recognize any movie from a line or short clip. It is a totally useless superpower except in trivia games. Strangely my wife can do the same with Pop Songs. We're like the wonder twins.

I will never understand why people feel the need to constantly compare things to one another.

You like Mad Men and Breaking Bad better, good for you. They're different shows, not everything needs to be viewed side by side. He didn't ask you which one was better anyway.

I watch the first season while I was on tour. I didn't mind it, but my bunkmates did. The final ep of season 1 caused a lot of "WTF is this shit?" amoung everyone.

For my personal view, I didn't like it enough to continue watching.

I loved it and I watched the show mostly for the characters instead of just what's going to happen next so I found the ending emotionally satisfying. Pathos over Logos I suppose.

One of my favorite shows in recent years.  I don't mind the ending.  I don't think it was spectacular, but it was decent.
I don't see why people are that worked up about it seeing as how it's not so much an ending to the show proper but rather something that takes place years later once they've all died from various causes.
That's the difference, yes. I'm on the opposite end of the spectrum, and from that perspective much of the show just seems like a waste of potential, unfortunately. I recognize how people can love it - I'm just not one of them.

I think part of the problem Lost has is that a good portion of it's audience went in expecting something different, and when it wasn't revealed until the end they felt cheated.

I think part of the problem Lost has is that a good portion of it's audience went in expecting something different, and when it wasn't revealed until the end they felt cheated.

The way I look at the show is that they had a general idea of a story, but most of it got changed as they went along.  Most of the characters in the later seasons didn't even have roles during the original planning, like Desmond and Hurley (Desmond was only supposed to be in the show until that thing happened
the bunker blew up
, and Hurley was just supposed to be a background character like Rose.  They changed a lot of these things due to fan response (Hurley becoming a main character, Jin becoming more sympathetic).  Micheal and Walt were supposed to have a larger role, but were written out because Micheal's actor had conflicts with the staff.  They had an idea and possibly a rough ending, but the rest was just sort of thrown together as they went.  I do kind of wish that they had an over-arching plot that didn't change as the rest of the show did and I am interested in what the original storyline was supposed to be like, but I still think the show is good for what it was.

Exactly (to your spoiler).
I feel like a lot of people misunderstand what happened and many even think that they were dead all along and none of this happened, or that they all died on the island, or whatever.  I think with any show like this it is hard to make an ending that satisfies everyone.
I was addicted to to from seasons 1-4. Watched all of them on DVD that I borrowed from a friend. I then watched 5 and 6 while it was live on TV. Either the quality dropped off or I hated having to wait a week to find out what happens next instead of just clicking next on the DVD.

Regardless, I absolutely hated the ending - I know of that for sure regardless of if I watched it on DVD or TV.
