We all have a certain limit when it comes to spicy peppers or sauces. Is there certain degree where you can find delicious or has there been a time where you actually ate a pepper and it was hotter than you'd thought?

Ive chewed a Habanero before, on a couple occasions. Never swallowed it though.
You know Cousins and their contests. I actually handle them really well.
My eyes get a little teary but they dont run, and neither does my nose, as opposed to my cousins practically dying lol.

I really want to try a Ghost Chili.
I know that they are MUCH MUCH hotter and that it will probably bring even me to my knees, crying like a little girl, but its still a curiosity

Not very I suppose as to me there is no taste to most hot sauces, just the irritating, unnecessary heat so I tend to avoid it.

The key with surviving, chewing and swallowing a raw, fresh Habanero pepper is to take the first bite and avoid the seeds. Then offer the remainder to your wise ass friend who dared you to eat it and watch as he eats the rest with the seeds and pukes like an unattended garden hose.

The hottest sauce I've ever had was called "The Bomb" and it was definitely much hotter than expected. As for what I can tolerate I'd say any kind of Cajun spice put in some Jambalaya.

not sure what the hottest pepper/sauce ive eaten but i love hot foods. the hotter the better. at a chinese buffet we go to, they have a hibachi grill, where you bring up raw ingredients(pork, beef, chicken, etc.) and then you fill out a card with the spices you want. i get the hot and spicy suicide. sometimes my eyes will water sometimes not. its good.

my favorite sauce by far though is Buffalo.

Daves Ultimate Insanity is the hottest thing I ever...had. Licked a big gob of it off my finger to try. Not fun. I have a pretty good tolerance for spicy food as well. But I don't prefer hot spicy because most of the time it tastes like crap. I like a good balance of spice and flavour.

I can tolerate them easily but I won't eat them by choice if they're too hot. Jalapenos are probably the hottest that I regularly have and they aren't very hot at all.

This. What's the point, as all it does is replace food flavor with lava? I would rather enjoy food's actual taste, versus having no taste buds left.

I am a capsaicin junkie, can handle habanero/scotch bonnet with ease, but when clowns start putting capsaicin extract in the mix to artificially boost the potency, culinary aspects go out the window, and bogus pain thresholds are introduced. It is not a competition.

I have been able to tolerate much hotter, but Tabasco sauce is about the hottest that I've been able to ENJOY.

And admittdly I'm a n00b to hot sauces, but I find that some people focus too much on the "getting it hotter" aspect and not enough on the "flavor" aspect.

I think that Tabasco sauce has a pretty good balance of both. It's hot enough to satisfy me, while being mild enough and flavorful enough that I can actually ENJOY IT instead of just trying to endure it. I can ENDURE far hotter sauces, but once the hotness significantly goes past the level of Tabasco sauce, I probably won't ENJOY it.

I ate a habanero once on a bet. It was not pleasurable.

I generally like pretty spicy food, but ive refrained from eating whole peppers plain since then. But when i cook i actually like making food spicy enough that my nose starts running, clears out the sinuses.... and just feels good.

Anybody can eat a hot pepper or hot sauce, but can you survive the next day when you recycle it?

sonicare

Once when I was a little kid, I spent the night at a friend's house. You know, one of those little "sleepover parties" that kids do.

Anyway, the kid's mom grows those peppers that go into Siracha sauce. And they had a ****-ton of them left over. So the kid stole a ****ton of those peppers, along with a bunch of his parents' money, and we all had a gambling session over who could eat the most hot peppers. Of course...the other kids didn'ts bring much money, so they paid in the form of IOU slips. Anyway, by the end of the night, I'd won the entire pot, which consisted of about $150 actual cash, and $300 worth of IOU slips.

I screwed up, though. After my mom came to pick me up, I told her about what happened. She then made me give her all of the money, she quickly drove me back to the other family's home and made me walk up to the mom in shame and hand over $150 in cash, and then I spent the next week pooping out pepper acid without having anything to show for it.

Habanero almost made me puke. It was unbearable for me. Jalapeno's on the other hand I find to be pretty mild... kind of strange.
