I was originally studying psychology (wasn't passionate about it), so then I switched to radiology. Because of that, some of my peers have already graduated with a degree while I am still in school.

The best thing I learned is that comparing yourself to other people is stupid. By doing so, I was bitter and I felt like crap.

Fed up with feeling like crap, I started focusing on myself instead of my peers, and I can honestly say that I am a lot happier nowadays. Everyone's life is different, you know? It's not a race.

How about you?

LIfe's lesson, only count on yourself. Never trust others, always do things on your own. I have found that waiting and depending on others, i always ended up disappointed. I had to work hard to earn all i've ever had. I'm giver now, but keep it within family.

One of the things I learned is how other people view you in your honesty, and fair dealing with individuals, and keeping your word. The only life you have control over is yours, and how you control your life determines how you are viewed by everyone else. Comparing yourself to other people never works as you found out.

Forego consumerism and save your money. Invest for the future. Never spend a lot of money on a depreciating asset (automotive).

Don't waste time comparing yourself to others and trying to be better than them; instead, try to be better than you were yesterday. Focus on self-improvement daily and be the best person you can be.

Let what you have no control over go. Don't dwell on what you can't change; focus only on what you can. With that, don't focus solely on the changes you want to make, otherwise those changes won't happen because nothing works if you try and force it.

Let it be, basically.

Take care of an issue asap, because a small issue might become a major problem over time. Personal example: debt or small injuries.

No matter what you do, there will be people who hates you for it or love you for it, just be true to yourself

Don't rush things. Play it cool. Life is like walking in stairs. You step slowly so you won't get tripped. What I mean is, you take one step at a time. That's what I've learned.

Two thing I have learned are tied for the best life lesson:

If you're second guessing yourself and the family is in the house, the only realistic option for jerkin the gherkin is in the shower with the bathroom door locked.

So police don't need guns, because they are not necessary to fend off armed criminals, right?

If you make the conscious decision to leave yourself with only option of calling for others to come to your rescue when confronted with armed assailants then you are absolutely not self reliant. It's fine when it's a personal choice for you and your family, but don't try to eliminate that right of self defense choice for everyone else then turn around and tell them to rely on themselves. Only you would miss the inherent hypocrisy in that.

Work should be something you are passionate about and don't dread doing every morning.

Granted, I can become passionate about almost anything that involves physical labour. But I don't foresee myself doing that necessarily for the rest of my life, as I'm already starting to experience knee, elbow and wrist problems.

The freight industry is my home, that I know for sure... I'll probably just climb the ladder up from truck driver. I've already got an offer from a manager at my current workplace to replace him upon his retirement. He really likes me and how hard I work and, for once, I feel good that I'm being recognized for trying to be the best I can be at what I do, and going above and beyond to do everything to the highest standard.

Amen to that. Got my Glock 17 sitting right next to me and my AR leaning against the wall, just like it's your responsibility to feed, clothe, and house yourself and your family, it should also be your responsibility to protect yourself.

That I shouldn't waste time thinking about what others think of me.

That I should never argue with idiots. Except if it's to entertain myself.

That I will have good things comming to me, if I do good myself.

To try not to be judgemental to others because it's impossible to know either their situation or train of thought.

To not look for a purpose in life other than trying to do your best to be happy and enjoy the time you have. It can be over any second.

I hate replying to that question as I feel a sense of obligation to my life experience to give an answer that honors it. But if I were to circumvent that compulsion, the fact that things do change no matter how bleak they seem at times is an invaluable lesson that people should never lose sight of in the hour of need.
