if it's target was too big to destroy? Like they found a planet too big for the laser to destroy, what would the impact look like on the surface? Like a nuke or what? What would the global impacts be?

No planet is too big for the Death Star

but if there really would be one, which I highly doubt, there would be like an unimaginably deep crater and probably half of the planet would have blown off :?

It would probably burn it.

what I'm wondering is, what would happen if you were to focus it to destroy one person

The person would probably turn to vapor and the laser would continue on as if nothing happened.

Alright, hypothetically, doesn't the laser work by exploding the planet out from it's core? So, if there's a planet too big to be blown up by the Death Star's Laser, that means it's too big for this core-based explosion to blow apart the whole planet. If this were the case, however, the core's explosion would make the surface of the planet become unstable, and would cause it to collapse on itself, sort of imploding, as opposed to exploding, the planet.

Either way, Death Star pwns j00.

No, the Death Star does not create some kind of weird chain reaction. The Death Star's beam literally obliterates the planet. Alderaan is quite clearly a complete eradication since a core explosion would look nothing like what happened to it.

So, if there's a planet too big to be blown up by the Death Star's Laser, that means it's too big for this core-based explosion to blow apart the whole planet

Not really, the Death Star was in orbit around Endor during theRebel Attack. It wasstated in the official novelization that the commander was rotating the Death Star towards Endor to blow it up when things started going badly for the Impierals. They wouldn't try to do that if the DS couldn't blow up a planet far larger than it is. Besides, the Death Star is the size of a small moon. What good would it do for the Impierals to tout it as a world killer if it can't kill anything bigger than it is? Which would be a majority of the populated planets in the galaxy?

If this were the case, however, the core's explosion would make the surface of the planet become unstable, and would cause it to collapse on itself, sort of imploding, as opposed to exploding, the planet.

Nowhere in any source where the Death Star has been used have planets indicated any kind of "implosion". They've all been completely blown up.

Either way, Death Star pwns j00.

Indeed.
