Where is this nonsense coming from?
This topic is locked from further discussion.
From what I understand a few years ago (I first remember hearing about it in 2005), some stores had their employees greet customers with "happy holidays" rather than "Merry Christmas". Also some people have referred to Christmas trees as "holiday trees" and some schools do not call their Christmas concerts Christmas concerts (they call them various other "politically correct" things).
Also If I remember correctly, a few years back some mall told the mall santas not to say "ho ho ho Merry Christmas" and instead to say "ha ha ha Happy Holidays".

Okay so? Is there anything stopping you from celebrating the holiday?
Some people should try venturing out of there socially conservative bubble for once. It's a Christian holiday, not everyone is a Christian.
I swear, this really needs to be our flag...
I wish there was a War on Christmas. Then I could join Santa's brigade and rain terror on the non-believing atheists, all while spreading joy across the world. Except for Africa, they get nothing but hope 'cause that's how I like to roll. ;)

You should be allowed to say Merry Christmas though as an employee.Sort of is, mate. The Christians needed a date to celebrate Jesus' birth, a date that we do not know. They decided that having Dec 25 be the holiday would get them more converts from the pagans. Anyways, Christmas celebrates Jesus' birth. Santa and presents have taken over, but still, it's a Christian holiday. And still, nobody should be offended by "Merry Christmas". Grow a backbone, you spineless pvssies who make people say "happy holidays"If I ever meet anyone IRL that talks about this fictional 'war' I just show them the facts behind the holiday and how it isn't really a christian holiday to begin with. Merry Christmans, Merry Xmas, Happy Holidays.....suck it up and get on with life.

I'm just giving people the background on how this all came about. If people want to say "Happy Holidays" then whatever (though most people do say "Merry Christmas"), but it is kind of stupid to say "Holiday Tree" (it's not a Hanukkah tree, it's not a Kwaanza tree, so why not just call it Christmas Tree?) and the mall Santa thing is foolish.I think most people still say Merry Christmas. Happy Holidays seems to mostly be a greeting that gets used by some stores and some schools.[QUOTE="PonchoTaco"]I remember when everyone said Merry Christmas without a second thought. Not anymore, sadly.whipassmt
or to, you know....recognize the fact that there's more than one holiday this month.

Whatever. People can say what they want to, within reason. Maybe "Merry Christmas and Happy Hannukah" would be most acceptable in a business or academic environment. I think most people just say Merry Christmas, though obviously Jews would say Happy Huannukah to each other.People need to quit being big pvssies and getting all butthurt over a saying. Who cares?

Someone wished me a Merry Christmas and I was extremely offended. So offended, it was beyond comphresion. I demand justice. I demand to ban Christmas. Christmas should be a private event, not a public event where it's shoved down on kids everywhere. As a Christian, I find it deplorable that we continue to celebrate such a pagan holiday.
That's too much work for me. If I ever meet anyone IRL who talks about this fictional "war", I just fart in their general direction and then go have a beer.If I ever meet anyone IRL that talks about this fictional 'war' I just show them the facts behind the holiday and how it isn't really a christian holiday to begin with. It's a never-ending war between two factions, Santa's army and the leftists.
So much spilled elf blood and starbucks coffee...
I'm not Christian at all, but the whole "Holiday" instead of "Christmas" thing is just BS. Call it what it is, and just understand that it should be a time of family, friends and giving, not just a reappropriation of a pagan solstice ritual for the use of a religious birth that didn't happen anytime close to December.
Essentially its a bunch of Christians upset that people say "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas" and they attribute it all to the radical secularization of the United States.
It's the same bullsh*t every year.
IF YOU DON'T WANT TO CELEBRATE THE BIRTH OF OUR (INEXPLICABLY CAUCASIAN LOOKING) SAVIOR THEN YOU CAN GIIIIIIT OUT.

I'm pretty sure that it is both a "holiday" and "Christmas". So it seems pretty stupid to me that someone would get offended over either word.I'm not Christian at all, but the whole "Holiday" instead of "Christmas" thing is just BS. Call it what it iskabphillie
