[QUOTE="Vanadium2k8"]+ People will overall be more unhappy than now.JandurinWhy?
It's been happening for 50 years now, we aren't as happy as we used to be (in the 1950's), and if there were published stats for 1800's, I'm sure they'd be even more happier.
Because life is more hectic and more "competitive". You have to get into a good school, you have to get good grades, you have to get into a good college, you have to become a doctor, a teacher (or some social equivalent), you have to be highly-payed to buy the great life you always wanted, you have to have kids, I could go on forever.
Whereas 50 years ago, all of these things were a privilege.
People in Nigeria and other African countries are the happiest people in the world - people in developed countries (and Eastern Europe/Russia) are amongst the saddest.

Anyway, how can you possibly guess how happy people really are? Maybe we're just as happy, but more cynical.

They're asking people to rate their life - 54% said they're "very happy" in the 1950's, only 36% said they're "very happy" now. Clearly people were more satisfied with life than people are now.Vanadium2k8Perhaps they were able to reach people in more walks of life with the more current census, or perhaps having survived... you know... the world war a few years prior made them feel a little better and more optimistic.

Then how do you explain people being more happier in Africa than Europe? ;)
Then how do you explain people being more happier in Africa than Europe? ;)Vanadium2k8Which link said something about that?

Okay, let me fetch it -- but something I missed out in reply to your last comment - I think people were more worried about WW3 (Cold War) in 1957, than WW2 which happened 12 years ago.

(not being serious)

(not being serious) The first link said 1957, the second link compared it to the 1920's (Great Depression).
