A friend of mine got it with his new pc, otherwise he wouldn't have bought it. He's reasonably happy with it. Nice effects and stuff, I did witness a number of blue screens though. My xp service pack 2 is more stable atm I believe. I don't really see the point of buying it myself, maybe with a new laptop.

Built in widgets, nice effects. No blue screens. It works. Some features are decent, but are they really necessary? (the screen viewer thing on the taskbar) I have it on my laptop which I'm using right now, because I thought I needed to have updates installed.

Yeah that screen viewer thing is weird. I guess it really could be helpful, I just haven't found the use for it yet.

Yea... that's basically the hierarchy of operating systems right now. Vista = XP with Aero.

Im actually having a great experience with Vista. So far I've had 0 problems with it that weren't fixed in 10 minutes max. I would nevrer have bought Vista but it came with my new comp and I'm glad it did.

Vista works. It's just that there is no reason to go from XP to Vista right now if you have the option.

It's great. I like it better than XP, but thats probably because it came with my awesome new computer 8)

My only complaint is that there aren't enough good 3rd party firewalls, because the one it comes with sucks. That's about it. Don't listen to people saying it's horrible. They're only saying that because people love to hate.

I use it all the time. i actually like it better then xp. i think that its more secure. and i was amazed that it works PERFECTLY on my 3 year old HP pavilion lapotop. hp says that its not compatible with vista. but windows vista installed the xp drivers with out a problem. with xp i had to do updates all the time it seemed. with vista i havnt noticed it at all. i get a downloading updates every month though but thats not a big deal. I LOVE IT!!! No crashes or blue screens. and it has been working perfectly since it came out and i installed it on my laptop

I feel it's better then XP, maybe that's just me.

I can see why someone would not want to upgrade, but that still doesn't explan why Vista is the next ME or how Windows 98, or any other OS, is better. I would like to see someone who has used Vista for a while to explain to me what makes it crappy. Too many people just post other's opinions that they have seen else where on the internet.

I think its terrible, its slower than XP, less reliable, the whole security system is totally annoying and that new sidebar is worthless. You are better off sticking with XP.

The only problems I've had with it are compatibility problems, which largely rests in the developers' hands for not making their programs compatible with Vista, or much more often, compatible with 64-bit operating systems (the version I have). It performs well for me, I've had only one crash so far and that was entirely my fault for killing a process that the OS needed. It's faster than XP (perhaps due to me not bogging it down with various programs that run in the background like I did with XP), has new programs that are useful to me and other tools such as the reliability monitor. I've yet to see any justifiable reason as to why Vista is as bad as ME that isn't just based off someone's personal experience with it. EDIT: Thought I'd add that my PC isn't great in terms of hardware, gmes like stalker only run without any problems on the lowest graphics settings.

I upgraded to a 64 bit version of Vista a few weeks ago and I don't have any problems. It has been just as stable as XP sp 2 and every game I have runs fine with no noticeable loss in performance. Most Apps seem to load faster because of improved prefetching. People who complain about performance loss with Vista must have crappy computers to begin with. It looks good and runs good for me, but the incentive to upgrade is not there for most people. I mostly got it for DX10 games.

Vista is a piece of crapyness horror. It's full of crap. It uses more memory than CS: Source. It sucks at those wasted and cheap ""'""3d"""" effects. It's nothing better than XP. It's a crap load of huge 10 GB I mean what the @##@$? It costs much more like a nuclear warhead and has more BSODs per year then the number of members Microsoft has. All Vista lovers or users should be bitterly ashamed for using a useless piece of junk like that and for wasting that money on it. Get Linux. It's better. Trust me.

What I am about to say is fact: "Windows Vista is better than Windows XP". Anyone who disputes this is off his rocker.
