▲ Just curious. A lot of people on here always say modern rock sucks. So, are their any exceptions? are their any good rock bands left? ▲

Give Carbon Leaf a shot. I'd recommend The Boxer, Life Less Ordinary, and Lake of Silver Bells. Lake of Silver Bells is probably their best. Ignore the 3 min of silence at the end of that video though.
Explore the realm outside of your local top 40 mainstream radio. This is not to say that all modern mainstream bands are bad. It's just that most of them these days all sound the same. And I would like to think it safe to assume that you're looking for something new and different to listen to.
Gogol Bordello is good but they are more of a punk band but their music is quite refreshing there is nothing else like it. you should also try Ween or The Decemberists which are some of my favorites, their music is alot different than most others and is also not very well known.
Alright, I will throw in a quick list of bands that I have been listening to as of late. The Mars Volta, Rise Against, Thrice, Wilco, The Black Keys, Muse, The Raconteurs, The Sword, and Mastodon.
I'll just list bands I listen to:
Minus the Bear
Incubus (SCIENCE Is their best album IMO)
Bright Eyes
Them Crooked Vultures
Saosin
A Day To Remember
On the Last Day
Brand New
Chiodos
Asking Alexandria
Deftones
Look 'em up, you might like one of them.

I don't understand all the hate that the internet gives Nickelback. They aren't a great band by any means but there are worse. Definitely not deserving of the hate they get.

I don't really go around bashing them (that vid is hilarious though) but it's definitely not my kind of music.[QUOTE="BreakTheseLinks"]

Two Door Cinema Club

The Dr. Dog song was ok but I really really really enjoyed the Neutral Milk Hotel and it turns out I have one of their songs in my iTunes already and I didn't even know it. But that happens a lot when you have >10,000 songs.

Thanks I'll listen to that when I've got enough time. I love listening to new bands :)
I always feel out of place in these music threads, I've never heard of 95% of the bands people mention :P
Anyways, the bands I've been listening to most recently and that I would recommend are Rise Against, Bad Religion and Green Day.

worthyofnote
This is what I was going to say pretty much.
I quite often go on an Internet music delve, where I find links to similer bands to ones I like. Sometimes I use wikipedia and search for stuff like "List of aggrotech bands" and then use U-Tube to give me a sample ofa few of their tracks.
I have to do this because I am very much out of there in terms of mainstream music these days, I don't like the pop, R&B or rap one bit, plus I hate the 'alternative' they offer from bands such as Cold Play and Kasabian, even though they are good at what they do that style of music to me feels so generic, soul less and boring. By the numbers is a word I use a lot when talking about top 40 charts. 90's had so much more varity going for it's top 40 but I'm not going down that road again.
They haven't made new albums in a while. That, and they go without saying. Honestly, The Strokes are pretty darn awesome. Whenever I sing Reptilia in Rock Band, my friends say I look like a lunatic XD That song is just too immense. Why has not one person mentioned white stripes or The Strokes.
Im I missing something. Are they not rock?
