What was lame about it?
I was pretty shocked that Sherk decided to got to-to-toe instead of outwrestle Griffin like he could have done.

i dont know, its just losing its appeal.
it might have something to do with how hard the announcers try to sell every fight as being amazing. i hate when fights slow down too.
I think brazillian jiu jitsu is stupid

Ah, yeah, the announcers are absolute crap, and I'm often considering muting the TV when I watch the PPVs, but it's all about getting my money's worth. :P
As much as I'd like non-stop action, it would lead to sloppy fights, even if they'd be faster paced. With Sherk and Griffin, who guys who really enjoy wrestling, which tends to be a lay and pray style as much as a ground and pound style, slowdown is just expected. When two strikers slow things to a cral, waiting for each other to make a mistake over the span of 2 rouns, only tossing out occasional jabs and low kicks...that's annoying.
I don't mind BJJ because I understand some of it, and while bad BJJ is really crappy to watch, good BJJ is pretty exciting because they're always fighting for position and they're active on the ground instead of just lying there. For instance, the Jason MacDonald vs Demian Maia fight has GREAT BJJ because they were so quick and fluid on the ground.
Unfortunately, since BJJ is necessary to learn, and maintaining a defensive position on the ground is easier than obtaining a better one or getting up and out, we often see guys who don't know enough BJJ to do anything interesting, and just try to survive until the ref stands it up.

the whole point to MMA is to find out what happens when certain styles clash
MMA benefits BJJ because theres a no head butt rule.
add a headbutt, bjj will no longer be needed because it would be entirely useless. Just like it is in real life

Headbutts, from what I recall/understand, make it real easy to cut people. Allowing headbuts would essentially make clinch fighters unstoppable.
UFC is sort of fun to watch, but it can be very boring.
I usually watch other MMA fights on TV, right now I am watching bodog fights, it is very entertaining 8)

Bodog is usually half-decent, but it's rare that they get two skilled competitors together. A lot of them are really sloppy, and it's about as fun to watch as King of the Cage.
