The thing about memes is that they are, by design, not inherently funny - what is suppose to funny, however; is the joke behind it.

So, in other words: if you were not present for whatever pun perpetuated/created that meme, then the meme itself should prove nonchalant.






In shorts: memes are stupid. The internet laughs anyways, not know why or how but take upon themselves to fit in and laugh anyways.

i have always taken memes to be defined as an inside joke anyone can be in on. something with enough momentum and life of its own that the only price of admission, in being a part, is that you do it right. meme: an inside joke so infested with viralness; it becomes everyone's inside joke.
