[Crap, I almost forgot to post the box office but hey, it's better later then never]

  1. Minions - $115,200,000 [new release]
  2. Jurassic World - $18,100,000
  3. Inside Out - $17,108,000
  4. Terminator: Genisys - $13,700,000
  5. The Gallows - $10,015,000 [new release]
  6. Magic Mike XXL - $9,640,000
  7. Ted 2 - $5,600,000
  8. Self/Less - $5,379,000 [new release]
  9. Baahubali: The Beginning - $3,575,000 [new release]
  10. Max - $3,420,000

Didn't really care for Minions which is just a prequel to Despicable Me, but damn, Minions making $115 million is really impressive numbers. As for Self/Less, Ryan Reynolds just can't catch a break. Sorry but that movie didn't look all that good from the trailers I seen. Next week is Ant-Man and we'll see how that movie goes for a new Marvel movie.

July 10-12 Mojo box results

It really was the perfect weekend for Minions to be released.

That movie looks so bad too. Just WAY too inappropriate in the wrong ways for it's kiddy demographic...

Minions basting isn't too unexpected, the Despicable Me franchise is huge for some reason. Universal is having one of the best years any company ever has at the moment. It also explains why they don't have much for next year, Warcraft and that's about it.

@davillain-: I expected it to do well and actually enjoyed the DM movies. I just thought there were a lot of bad jokes in the trailer that shouldn't be in a kids movie. They are adult jokes that are really blatant, not wonderfully hidden like the great kid shows of the 90's.

@PSP107: Rocko's Modern Life is the best example. The show is literally an entirely new experience when watched as an adult. The entire show runs on subtle adult humor that is smart enough to be over kids heads, yet it is silly enough to get the kids laughing.

Another are some of the shows produced by Warner Bros. Animation in the 1990s, such as Animaniacs, Freakaziod, and Tiny Toon Adventures. They had plenty of gags for kids that had a whole other layer for adults s well.

I love the Dispicable Me minions from what I've seen of them, but damn they look like blatant rip-offs of Raving Rabbids.
