Probably because your sub conscious and body is in a nervous state. I have this also when im falling asleep sometimes after waking up which is also combined with ears deafening, high nervousness, horrified anticipation and thinking shutting off as i fall asleep again and this repeats until i get too tired and ignore it. Never figured out what that is all about.

hardly ever happens to me. but when it does ive usually had a very full on nightmare.

worst one was having lightning fast zombies with like 2 metre claws in my dream and watching them decapitate my family. (im 13)

best one was having predator steal my record collection and me chase him through a lego forest.:D

I've had that happen to me, but it rarely happens and it when it does, it's only after I take a nap. Not after a full sleep.

I woke up scared this AM because the dog barked whilst I was having a dream about playing Mario Brothers though for some reason Mario Brothers meant looking through a house that I've never been to and having to go through every room, though of course this place was huge. Last place I was in was the top floor which consisted entirely of a huge bathroom. Also, there was a sushi room, and my girlfriend was there and basically folded 2 person sized fish together and stuffed it into her purse... Though, I think the heart beating fast was from the abrupt awakening by the dog, not because of the odd dream.

Very rarely happens to me. Only happens when someone scares me awake (if thats possible) or if I had a nightmare.

I'm ill at the moment, so I have experienced that for some days now. Not quite so energetic as normally.

No... unless I have a nightmare or I encounter a nasty sleep paralysis upon waking up.
