Gotham falls into Nuclear Winter but Batman manages to keep order with the help of reformed Mutants.
The Government sends Superman into Gotham because Batman's become a liability.
Batman fights Superman in Crime Alley and kicks his ass with the help of Green Arrow.
Batman then fakes a heart attack and goes underground to plan his future.
Wayne Manor is destroyed and Alfred dies of a stroke.
The Joker also dies by suicide because Batman still can't do it.
Superman knows Batman is still alive and doesn't do anything about it.

Spoilers btw, so don't read if you haven't watched it yet.

Nice spoiler warning at the end.

False, looking Quality wise I'd say Lincoln was the best but personally I enjoyed Wreck it Ralph the most last year.

I thought Skyfall was better than it, not by a lot though.

#54 Posted by Iceozo (6531 posts) -

Considering that the trilogy itself is overrated I'll say false.

TDKR and the hobbit are the only two new films i watched in 2012 but i would have to say i enjoyed the hobbit more but that's not a fair comparison because i watched the hobbit in IMAX 3d which was fvcking sick

Nah I liked Looper better than Dark Knight Rises, and I'm probably not remembering some good movies.
I tend to see movies from all kinds of times.
Like recently I watched Panty.. Panty.. Pontypool. I loved that one. It's not a scary movie but it was fun. I loved all the Doc's lines.

If TDKR was the best of 2012 then it was a pretty dissapointing year in movies.

#58 Posted by MikeMoose (3074 posts) -

Dark Knight Rises was actually the worst movie I saw in 2012, coming from a huge Batman fan.

Are you people serious? The Hobbit was horrible.
#60 Posted by ultimate-k (2348 posts) -

False, the Hobbit is the best movie of 2012.

anyone saying les miserables is the best of 2012 is a freaking mongoloid
#62 Posted by OB-47 (10908 posts) -

I haven't seen it.

I really enjoyed Skyfall.

I'd say true. All the people who are saying no, what was better? Django? I certainly know it wasn't the god-awful Bourne Legacy...

Vari3ty
Django is probably the only other one that's worthy of being there.

The Master, Looper, Skyfall, The Hobbit & Django Unchained were all better than TDKR

Skyfall? Oh please, I really thought that was average at best. I'll give you Looper, though. That was a fantastic movie.

For me the best was The Hobbit. And then TDKR, Django, Skyfall and The Avengers.

I enjoyed it the most. Made meshed a tear near the end. Had a number of heart pounding moments for me

MIB3 was a more entertaining movie than TDKR
#74 Posted by Aljosa23 (24535 posts) -

Skyfall is the best blockbuster film last year by miles, it's not even a contest. Just takes a royal dump over all the comic nerd wet dream movies.

'Les Miserables' (though it's just barely 2012).

chessmaster1989

I found it hard to enjoy Les Mis because Javert is my favorite character from it (and his songs, esp Stars, are among my favorites) and god was Russell Crowe bad.

I didn't find him distractingly bad, just flat. Very flat. I was afraid of Sacha Baron Cohen and Helena Bonham Carter after seeing them in 'Sweeney Todd' (as an aside I propose that Tim Burton be henceforth barred from doing musicals), but they actually worked pretty well in this one (at least for their roles).

I remember seeing both The Hobbit and The Hunger Games in 2012 so while its still opinion that those are better movies than TDKR, it happens to be my opinion.

Where was Bane from in Rises?

#78 Posted by AcidThunder (2332 posts) -

i have only watched TDKR and Skyfall this year and i found both of them to be equally good

#79 Posted by raven_squad (78438 posts) -
It would be lucky to make it into the top 20 of films I enjoyed last year, honestly.
#80 Posted by Flubbbs (2892 posts) -

End of Watch was moty

#81 Posted by shadowkiller11 (7953 posts) -
I don't know because I don't always follow the release dates but I have watched Silver Lining Playbook and Looper and they were pretty decent. But TDKR was quite inconsistent. I know I seen way more movies that came out last year but I couldn't pick the best.
#82 Posted by helwa1988 (2066 posts) -
False. The avengers was the best.
#83 Posted by redstorm72 (4517 posts) -

False. I loved the TDKR but Les Miserables was better.

False.

Id have to see all the rest to make that conclusion, but it was one of my favorites

Huge FALSE. You need to expand your taste in movies.

I really enjoyed Skyfall. That being said, before Javier Bardem made his first appearance, it wasn't exactly a classic

I found the first half to be good, the second half to be sh!t. That's just me, though.

I would go with either Django or The Hobbit.

#90 Posted by AFBrat77 (24025 posts) -

The whole thing was pretty badass.

Who agrees?

Primordialous

Personally I thought Skyfall was better

.....I didn't see Argo (want to see it), Lincoln, Zero Dark Thirty, or Django Unchained, I'm betting at least a couple of those were better than Batman as well.

Best blockbuster film? Hell yes.

Best film? Hell no. Amour takes that crown.

#93 Posted by mitu123 (153911 posts) -

Lol, The Hobbit is worse than:

The Dark Knight Rises

Skyfall

Dredd 3D

The Avengers

Not to mention it's pacing. Still a really good movie though.

End of Watch was moty

Flubbbs

I'm surprised not many people liked that movie. Had lots of good moments and it never really took itself seriously. They didn't mind going off on a tangent because who cares about the dumb storyline? And Richard Ayoade was great.

#95 Posted by CreatureRising (1530 posts) -

False, still a good film, but not the best of 2012.

Far from the best, maybe top 10..... I would have hard time putting it in the top 5.

I really want to see Dredd, although I now can't experience it's supposedly amazing 3D in cinemas
