Is it just me? My last semester ended on May 19th and June is almost over already. I start my radiography program at university on September 10th. It's giving me a little anxiety along with how fast time is going.

Anyone else feel like time is going by scary fast sometimes?

@gamerguru100: depends on the upcoming events, future is unknown, but is past, how old are you

If you are in your 20's or younger, you should be fine. But I heard things get more complicated in your 30's.

@lucianocasanova: Why does me being in my 20s make it fine? The events I partake in and the choices I make will likely define the rest of my life.

it's age related.

at 10 years old a year is 10% of your experienced time and it takes forever to go by.

at 20 a year falls to 5% of your total time experience (or whatever you want to call it)and it feels a little quicker.

after that it just keeps getting more pronounced.

according to older people i have talked to about this a whole year will go by in what feels like the blink of an eye.

the time itself never changes just your perception of it.

Depends on whether I'm looking forward to something (it'll take forever) or I'm falling behind on a deadline (time goes by really fast)

Time passes at the exact same rate as it did when you were born, so no, it is not passing faster. That feeling that time has passed by fast is a side effect of getting older. I know when I was younger I felt time was moving too slow.

It'll get worse the older you get. Not yet 25, but sometimes I feel that when I get a haircut, there's a chance the hair won't grow back. I'm starting to see where the pockmarks in the face are going to form, the crows feet, etc.

It sucks. Soon you're going to look in the mirror and you won't recognize the face staring back at you. Your body is going to begin to hurt, aches and pains that disappeared after a day or two will begin to last a week.

Then your dick's gonna start to shrivel up and your prostate will begin to enlarge. After the prostate surgery, you'll get lung cancer and die.

But don't worry, you'll be taken care of.

I'm almost 40, I can tell you years go by in the blink of an eye.

It's like, so it's Christmas, next thing you know it's Easter, next thing you know it's Summer, next thing you know school starts, suddenly it's Christmas again!

I will be 34 this year and time goes so fast. I find myself thinking something happened recently when it turns out it was months or years ago.

We actually have six full months left for 2015, but yeah, I remember New Year's Day like freaking yesterday. I was bringing home McDonald's and my mom said I missed the ball dropping in Times Square. Not that I cared though. :P

Sometimes time for me goes really slow and sometimes really fast but generally speaking I've reached a statement:

Days go by slow, years go by fast.

I just finished this last thursday... Time will likely fly by, and I don't mind it going quickly, all I want is to look back in september and think this was a summer well spent. At this rate it might not be that way but I'll do what I can.

I remember it, too. I'd come back from a job and was watching Avengers with my sister. God, it always feels like yesterday!

If I may ask, what age gap are you? It might have sometime to do with it, because time sure didn't fly like this when I was 16 or so (4 years ago for me!)

@ShadowsDemon: I'm 22. Agreed about the time. By age 20, one year is only five percent of your lifetime, which is very little. A year goes by in the blink of an eye for old people I imagine.

Indeed.

I find the thing is to make major events happen - or changes occur, so you can set the markings between time. Otherwise it blurs together.

I took a holiday to Thailand between my last two semesters. It did so much good!

Seriously though: try something new, even if it's watching a film from a country you haven't watched anything from or try a new restaurant - make milestones!

We're all well-aware of the truism of "as you grow older, time seems to go by faster", and of the explanation that always ensues "it's your perception of time that changes, not time itself". I have, like all people, observed that long enough, but I've been observing something strange lately: it's like everything seems to be "regressing".

I've observed this in different matters, one of which is my perception of time. It no longer feels to be flying by; quite the contrary, time has been passing excruciatingly slow lately, which reminds me of my perception of it at an earlier age.

Ain't that the truth. When I'm home on my days off, the days all blend in together and fly by in no time. Meanwhile, time at work can move slower than fucking molasses.

I'm 35 and if I never looked at a calendar since New Years, I would guess maybe 3 months have gone by. What is worse, the summer and spring months seem to go by way faster than the winter months. I keep telling myself, year after year, not to piss away summer, and spend at least 3 weekends a month doing something outside the house. Yet every October, after the first snowflake doesn't melt, I'm kicking myself for not doing more.

lol. Most decisions you make in your 20s will not define the rest of your life. Chances are you won't start getting your shit together until your 30s, and probably mid tolate 30s. Do you know how many people who go to school for x end up working in y? Concerning education decisions, only 27% of grads actually work in their field of study.

I find that my perception on the passage of time tends to fluctuate.

Sometimes I'll be surprised we're still in the same month, and other times I'll wonder how it's already next week.

This has actually felt like a bit of a slow year for me.

Returning to school last fall, every moment, every second, every instant has mattered. There has not been any point during these past 10 months when learning came without careful effort. In fact, scrutiny is a reason for considering a minor in philosophy.

The older you get the quicker time seems to go. At 41 the years are flying by almost uncontrollably it seems, although a mortgage, wife, kids and job may have something to do with it....

Enjoy your time while your still young.

A lot of it depends on where you're at in life. I've found that if I'm regularly busy, or my daily life is very routine (i.e. every day is the same), then time goes by quickly.
