DJ's....explain please.  I don't see the fascination with that genre.  The music seems very derivative and generic.  Not to mention monotonous.  Am I missing something?

I'm asking why people like them? What about them entertains them? I was curious because I don't see it.

DJs themselves do nothing worth listening to.. imo.  You have to combine them with the other beats and singers or whatever else.  Djs alone just create sounds that are kinda cool I guess, but still boring and they all sound the same.

I like how some DJs take samples from various sources, mixes and mashes those sounds together to create something very original. DJ Shadow does that, and I see his work as some of the best in DJ'ing. Plus rappers use DJs to create new beats for whatever rap they want to make, so I guess the Hip-Hop community embraces that.

I honestly dont get it either. They are there to turn on the music at least, and they also combine things.  Like different songs like that guy said.

Ok...is it more about the atmosphere more than the actual music? Do you listen to the music when you are not raving?

I guess its a club thing ppl who go to clubs always rave about dj's I personally dont get the hype either.
