Thoughts??

My first repsone was "Go adhead, Thor was not really that great of a hero anyway, maybe switching the gender will actually make me interested in reading those comics."

No word on what Marvel or Disney is going to do in the movies. I believe it will stay the same actor in the movies for now since I remember photos of them already filming in South Africa, unless they have changed the actor to an actresses without telling public( doubt it though).

Ummm a Female Thor was done back in the late 90's so this is no surprise. It's not like Thor 3 movie is not going to make a difference anyway.

Sounds interesting, I approve. Hope they actually write her with a decent personality instead of just adding boobs to the old Thor.

It's odd how comic fans get more offended to changes of fictional characters than pagans do about the fictional characters being based on their gods.

Imagine how Christians would react if there was a superhero comic about Jesus.

I'm usually not a proponent of changing a character so drastically after they've been around for awhile. In this instance I don't really care because Thor has never been a character I really enjoyed.

Fair enough. I don't see why they didn't just create a new female hero, instead of changing one, especially one who's recently had a huge boost to his popularity because of the Avengers movie, but I'm not disappointed. I do wonder how they'll explain the change, and if it'll affect later Avengers movies.

This is intriguing because she is the main Thor of the 616 continuity. I guess that means Donald Blake is no more. That is a very prominent position as well. Much is expected of being princess of Asgard, arguably the most powerful superhero in the Marvel universe, and one of the three original members of the Avengers.

That'll happen eventually. About the same time we're naming planets after characters like Yahweh, Jesus, Satan, and etc.

Why would the movies star a female Thor suddenly? OP seems to be missing the fact that 1) the movies are separate from the comics, and 2) the comics take place much later, so you get all this stuff happening (such as female Thor) that the movies didn't reach yet.

Bad move, Thor is male, plain and simple.

If they want to include Sif instead thats another story.

Does it really matter? I can't think of any character I'd like more or less if they had their gender swapped (except on movies/shows where I actually really like the actor/actress playing the character, but in comics it makes no difference)

Rather than just sticking boobs on an existing character, why not create a NEW super hero? I also ask, why of ALL their existing characters they chose to gender swap the one that was based on existing and very interesting mythology...

Not angry or anything, but I do find this move a bit silly.

Don't see the problem. Wouldn't be the first time that a male hero passes the mantel to a female and sometimes it works out better like Carol Danvers becoming Captain Marvel.

i grew up with the mythology, and it's fucking stupid... But Marvel only does this shit because of the money. They clearly have no respect for the mythology
