If you think about it every aspect of our lives is governed by numbers, we all have aome where to be at a specific time, time is a series of numbers, the amount of years we live. How much money we have determines how we live our lives, an amount of money is a number. The temperature outside dictates how we will dress for the day, temp is a number, age dictates what we are allowed and not allowed to do, age is a number. The number of miles we drove and the speed we drove at is a number, and so on.

Even in space numbers have governed our very existence, if the speed of light was a slightly lower number, if the force of gravity was a slightly different number, if the temp of the universe was a higher number there would be no life. These precise settings of the universe have allowed things to form and exist including life. My question is; Are numbers a man made thIng or were numbers discovered?

Reminds me of a movie, but i can't seem to remember the name ? I just remember the guy had numbers or letters written all over his room. They seem to all lead to a portal, or key of some sort.

We assigned time as a measurement but time existed long before us, we just put a name to it, we called it Time. We use numbers to measure time, I feel these numbers came into existence at the same time as space-time and we just put names to them, we called them Numbers 1234 etc.

This is so philosophical.

We discovered numbers.

But the invents are a discovery too.

things are the way they are because we are here to observe it.

we could just as easily evolved as gelatinous blobs that breathe methane on a planet near absolute zero in a universe with different laws of physics. (had the universe itself evolved slightly differently)

our numbers are our numbers because we are here to observe them.

the numbers themselves are arbitrary and most likely pretty meaningless.

they only have value because we assigned values to them.

so just like the proverbial tree that falls in the empty forest numbers do not even exist if there is no observer.
