NOTE: Read the other post I made after this post and respond

http://slackhalla.org/~demise/test/socialattitude.php

Hey you guys wanted to get the pulse of OT for funsies

Post your results and discuss how well you think they match you

My results: Political Values

Progressivism 90

Socialism 18.75

Tenderness 43.75

Your test scores indicate that you are an open-minded ultra-progressive; this is the political profile one might associate with a journalist. It appears that you are skeptical towards religion, and have a generally optimistic attitude towards humanity in general.

Your attitudes towards economics appear laissez-faire capitalist, and combined with your social attitudes this creates the picture of someone who would generally be described as a libertarian.

To round out the picture you appear to be, political preference aside, a sensible realistic egalitarian with several strong convictions.

This concludes our analysis; we hope you found your results accurate, useful, and interesting.

Unlike many other political tests found on the Internet which base themselves on untested (and usually ideologically motivated) ideas, this inventory is adapted from Hans Eysenck's own political inventory which was developed after extensive empirical investigations in the 20th Century.

Fortunatus dislikes this.

2nd part of getting the pulse of OT consists of a simple exercise. Just post your answer. Maybe in a spoiler with an explanation.

Let's say that if an index card has a vowel written on one side then it has an even number written on the other side

On a table you see four cards as follows

A

88

7

K

How many cards do you have to flip over to be sure the above rule is followed. Which cards would you flip over?

Each card will have both a letter and number

Your test scores indicate that you are a tender-minded cultural centrist; this is the political profile one might associate with a protective parent. It appears that you are accepting of religion, and have a compassionate and sympathetic attitude towards humanity in general.
Your attitudes towards economics appear neither committedly capitalist nor socialist, and combined with your social attitudes this creates the picture of someone who would generally be described as a neoconservative.
To round out the picture you appear to be, political preference aside, a sensible idealistic egalitarian with several strong convictions.

EDIT: wtf is neoconservative?

EDIT: About the second post you need to flip three cards. A and K. 88 to see if there's a vowel on the back of that card or not, You don't need to check that seven. There's either a vowel on the back of it or not. If there is then the rule applies if there isn't then the rule is useless here.

EDIT: Sorry I replied assuming that the numbers are going to be odd instead of even...

EDIT: Dang it I also forgot that vowel and letter are two different things lol

Your test scores indicate that you are an open-minded cultural centrist; this is the political profile one might associate with a jaded materialist. It appears that you are tolerant towards religion, and have a balanced attitude towards humanity in general.
Your attitudes towards economics appear laissez-faire capitalist, and combined with your social attitudes this creates the picture of someone who would generally be described as a traditionalist.
To round out the picture you appear to be, political preference aside, a uncompromising realistic centrist with few strong convictions.
This concludes our analysis; we hope you found your results accurate, useful, and interesting.

lol I'm pretty sure I got the index card thing wrong.

Two Cards: You flip A to check to see if there is an even number on the otherside. You flip 7 to make sure that there is no vowel on the otherside. K you don't have to flip because it isn't a vowel and you always have one letter and one number on each card. You don't have to check 88 because the rule never said you couldn't have a consonant with an even number as well. But if there is a vowel it means you're following the rules anyways so either way it has passed the rules. From a certain standpoint having an even number and a consonant isn't breaking the rules. It would be breaking the rules if you have a vowel and an odd number though.

I feel like clarifying number six, while I agree that financers and investors have caused the majority of our current financial problems (the word current is very important as it does not necessarily apply to other economic downturns) there are a myriad of other factors that contributed as well. The repeal of glass steagal comes to mind as does the idea that people only concern themselves with benefitting shareholders while not concerning themselves about the lives of the workers who keep their businesses functioning on a daily basis.

As for the Card test, I have no idea.

Oh forget it, I just read your last sentence about only having one letter and one number.

Card 1 must be turned to see if there's an even number, because it's showing a vowel.

Card 2, showing 88, doesn't need to be turned. If there's a vowel, the rule is true. If there's no vowel, the card is irrelevant. Either way, the rule holds.

You flip cards 3 and 4. These cards are not showing even numbers, and the rule is false if either of them have a vowel on the opposite side. (Edit: Just read that the card has one number and one letter... didn't see that, you wazzock. I guess you don't need to turn the card showing a K either since it isn't a vowel.

I think my numbers for socialism are a bit higher than what they are in reality (by a good 15-20 points at least), though I quite like the description and I think its far more accurate in describing me than most other political tests are.
