[QUOTE="Mithrandir50"] I am probably the most comic-versed on this board though. I will take nominations for the final 2 spots. Watchmen, V, and We3 are staying though. Mithrandir50

This book club will flop if its just you picking the books.

... But it's not. 2/5 of the books in the polls were not my choices. Again, if something I pick is reviled by many, I will change it. I am working with you guys.

It would be best if you go by the other of who signed up and have them choose but whateves.

Maus, definitely Maus.

Give me some real recommendations, guys.

So far we have Maus and Pikachu.  Maus is fantastic.  Pikachu... is not.

Clannad has a manga version.

I am a mediator. I am not going to allow a book like Pikachu be considered for the poll! Bro. 2/5 spots are for the people to decide.

Good, but not really a masterpiece like some of these other books.

Batman year One > Dark Knight Returns, but it's pretty short. That's what I'm hesitant about. I will take the others into consideration. I wasn't in love with the other two, to be honest.

No. Lex Luthor Man of Steel or Superman Red Son over All Star Superman any day.

About 600 pages. I don't recall how long the chapter was though. Not too long I think

Long Halloween is nowhere near as good as DKR and Y1, IMO. The difference in writing quality is astronomical. Good, but not amazing. And bro. Read All Star Superman 10 again. Everything good about Superman encapsulated in 24 pages.

Did it feature Lex Luthor? If not then you are wrong.

Dark Knight Returns would have been better without the mutants and those mutated flying baby things. Had some brilliant ideas though, like Joker's personality resurfacing when Batman did.

i know, it's my favourite rendition of batman.

i actually just caught up recently and now am keeping up to date with vol 2. these next couple of issues are gonna be great. i just know morrison is gonna come full circle with the story and blow our minds

Yeah, the solicit for issues 13 (his last) is epic. "Batman saves the world and loses everything." Nothing flashy or gimmicky, just straight up. Morrison is my favorite comic writer

I second this but I also agree that it's just too long. Too much of a commitment to ask people to spend that much, especially if they can't find it at their library.

i'm hoping to get the morrison variant for 13 (or is it 12?) as well

The first chapter is only 31 pages in the mass market paperback version.

So am I. I've already read the whole run 3 times, but right after 12 comes out, I'm going to dedicate the month to re-reading his whole run. Probably not going to take the whole month though.

[QUOTE="Mithrandir50"] Lai, I voted for Of Mice and men this time. I lost too. It doesn't matter. I will be reading both. I urge you to do the same. I also urge you to stay active in this thread, we really would appreciate your input on AG. But I am in charge of this book club. You have the film club. Don't let that die. Next round is Graphic Novels anywaysMithrandir50

OOO, a graphic novel sounds fun. Just not the Watchmen because everyone and their dog has already read it.

I will put it in the poll. But remember, I am willing to change the poll if enough people cry out. Pretty much going to do Watchmen, V for Vendetta, We3, Dark Knight Returns, All Star Superman.

I strongly urge you to add monster! It's one of the best stories ever... It's an amazing read...

meh,imo monster is pretty overrated.

story didn't draw me in, only one or two bearable charactors and the ending was pretty bad.

No. Wait do you mean the words are different or just the page size/words per page?

There are about 12k more words in the "authors preferred text" which puts back some stuff that was edited out in the original version of the book. So a revised version. The differences between the two are minor from what I have seen.
