After seeing The Dark Knight Rises in IMAX yesterday I decided in almost no time that this has to be the best trilogy of all time, in my opinion at least. In other words, better than Star Wars, better than Lord of the Rings, better than any other film trilogy in history, if you ask me.

Does anyone else agree?

in terms of just superhero movies, yes.

but when you look at movies in general, both the dollars and evil dead trilogies beat it.

No. Every movie of the Dollars trilogy is better than the Batman trilogy. Same for Lord of the Rings. Bourne and Indiana Jones are also better on the whole. List goes on.

As much as I dislike Godfather III, the first two more than make that trilogy better than the Dark Knight.

I'll take the Dollars, LOTR, Star Wars trilogies over it anyday. The Dark Knight trilogy really only had two quality films and one very poorly shot and choreographed one (Batman Begins). Obviously Nolan got a lot better at directing since the first, and in the latter two the action sequences were actually watchable, and there was a serious motive and villain.

I'd take Back to the Future over it despite the third being what it was. I also enjoyed Lord of the Rings more. It beats out Star Wars though.

The movie has not been out even a week yet. There is no way you can make that kind of assertion. You haven't even given time for your excitement to cool down at all.

God no. Far from it. It doesn't lay a finger on the Dollars trilogy, and while Godfather III is horrid, Part I and II contain more than enough to be superior all in all.

After seeing The Dark Knight Rises in IMAX yesterday I decided in almost no time that this has to be the best trilogy of all time,

Tigerman950

I bet you say things like "that was the best movie EVARRR!!!!" after every movie you watch.

Seriously, you decided "in almost no time"? Stay away from wanting to become a film critic. Such a job requires a bit more thought than that if you want to have have any credibility as one.

No, I'd still rate LOTR and the original Star Wars trilogy above it. One of my favorite trilogies though.

I can't speak for the Dollars trilogy, but Lord of the Rings is still better, and the Bourne Trilogy is up there too.

This sets the bar for superhero films for sure. I hope that Zack Snyder channels enough Nolan to make Man of Steel worth it.

I have a feeling they will be more revered over time. Right now critics like the series, while only the Bat-fans are ridiculously rabidly insane about the trilogy. I happen to be one of those fans, as I was very young when Batman Begins came out. Not only did the movies get me into comics, they also solidified the idea that superheroes didn't have to be goofy and unrealistic in my mind. At this point I've become very jaded about movies in general, as it's tough to get me really excited or elated seeing a film. Coming out of The Dark Knight Rises, I had that feeling I had when I was a child yet again. Cliche as that sounds, this movie got my heart-pumping and made me emotional when the time came. Taking a step back on the entire trilogy, all films are great yet obviously have notable flaws. I also feel that the fact that the films are based on comics is and always will hold the films back from people's favor. At the same time, they invoke something in me that no other series of movies has been able to. Star Wars was always "meh" for me, and I can't sit through Westerns. I wil always love The Dark Knight trilogy, and it'll be tough to beat it for me.

I did very much enjoy all of them, but as a trilogy specifically? Eh, I'm not the biggest fan simply because I found that the series really doesn't feel like it was meant to be a trilogy in the first place even though the third film does do a good job in giving the allusion of otherwise.

I personally don't consider it a real trilogy.

Since none of the story was developed before hand. Nolan didn't even want to do a 3rd until the studio convinced him and he simply mixed and matched peices of comic book stories to what fit in with the first one.

Besides, LoTR will forever hold that spot.

Maybe not the best (for most at least, all 3 movies are some of my favorites), but definitely one of the better trilogies next to LotR, Star Wars, and others.

Bolding 'personally' and 'underlining 'real' doesn't take away from the fact that it meets the definition of what a trilogy is.

Goodness no! I just thought Nolan's Batman films were decent enough, but nowhere the territory of films like the Colors, Apu or The Human Condition trilogy of films for it to mentally rank high in any kind of a top list of trilogies I might muse upon if I were so inclined.

Definitely one of the best and it will be remembered thats for sure. Too many people have different taste and opinions nothing is the absolute best. But the Dark Knight trilogy is remarkable at making a very dark and serious comic book superhero movies.
