The Danger of Emo

Oh those crazy news reporters. What will they come up with next?

#2 Posted by nickmag (6710 posts) -
Emo's are way over the top but you can't blame everything wrong in a kids life on a pop culture fad

Such a hilarious fashion trend... it will be gone in a couple years... just like bellbottoms, tube-tops and whatever crazy crap we will come up with.

That news report is actually a few years late. Most emos I knew changed over to "Scene" over a year ago. It's emo, just less depressing, and more confusing/pointless. And you make yourself look even dumber. I can't wait to see the next fad. It's going to be so ridiculous. I'm putting my money on "Pirate"

Say what you will about the tenets of national socialism, at least it's an ethos.

But seriously, emo kids, don't you all feel like complete idiots?  Would it change your mind if I told you that you all remind me of Michael Stipe?  You don't want to be like Michael Stipe, do you?

Sorry I'm at work at the moment, what was the jist of the coverage? I watched it but there was no sound.

 pirate

I'm thinking Pirate is a great choice.  Rebelliious, eye-patched kids running amok on the high YMCA swimming pool seas.  awesome.

That was absolutely brilliant.

 The things they used to explain emos were jokes about emos. That's like trying to explain black people through racist jokes.

Lame stereotyping. *sigh*

It's about the dangers of being EMo, they focused on the waythey dress and why, and this "how emo are you" points system, in which you get points for different things like cutting yourself to attempted suicide, wearing old hoodies etc.... You didn't really miss too much

Men should not wear makeup, that is all.

Haha...Emo's make me lol. But still...that reports WAY over the top. When the hell did this scoring system appear? Yea maybe ppl post bulletins on myspace n stuff with quiz's but there isnt an official scoreboard thing as this report is makin out to be...and a fringe covers one eye to block out half the world? My fringe nearly goes over like my left eye....not emo at all....due to the fact my fave bands are Trivium, Lamb of God and Chimaira and tight clothes disturb the $hit outta me....what a news report though.....stupid Emo's...

Oh, just some kids that haven't learned society is a jungle and life sucks. I thought it would of been some footage of a kid running into a grocery store with an Uzi spraying bullets everywhere while shouting "DADDY NEVER LOVED ME!!" while sobbing.

Other than for pulling down to signal the start of a hot-rod race, I never quite got that whole tube-top thing...

You people are full of the hate. You spawn the eomos
#32 Posted by JuneBugg132 (653 posts) -
Now, what do you think emo is based on; the clothes you wear, or the way you act? Don't say both, because what if you dressed emo, but were actually a regular person. However, what if you dressed preppy, but acted very...uhm 'emo'
#33 Posted by MagnumPI (9617 posts) -

Kids always pose. I'm sure there is far more emo posers than real emos. Cause kids are that way. They strike poses, they put on shows. In their minds adopting atire, putting on a uniform or replicating someone else makes them a whatever they are trying to be.

A person's cloths never made them who they are. But I guess kids don't understand that. They are too shallow and simple minded to know any thing other than emulations.

thats y i dont like emos

I feel that anyone who ignorantly hides behind a social label is just afraid of what people think of them and they simply want a place to belong, due to the fact that they lack the confidence to just be themselves. I pity such wastes of life.

WTF, a points system? Wonder who has the highest rank. Wait, do emos have rank names, too?

I can't see what would compell someone to be so pathetic (biologically). I see the emo trend as a sign of humanities declining survival instincts. If we continue to have so many luxuries in life, our offspring will continually get weaker until the entire human race dissipates. Emo's are the pioneers of this degrading trend.
