if you're genuinely curious and not just expressing the "eww" factor that many people who can't come to grips with transgender people do, I'd recommend doing some research.

I don´t need to make a research, I have a couple of transgender clients and I have asked them, I still do not understand that desire that drives them and many times to even risk their life to transform, I feel really very sorry with someone like "Claudia" ( the name she picked ), she has gone through a real hell and suffered a lot, to tell you the truth I feel happy that she finally quit on the transformation.

I wish he did this in private instead of having cameras document his journey to become a women. It just looks like Jenner wants to be in the spotlight for once since its always Kim, Khole, or the Jenner sisters or Kris. If he's fine as a women then good for him. I just wonder how the family will explain Caitlyn to the grandkids when they get older. Maybe have her be an aunt or something.

All you need to understand is by having the surgery and dressing as a women they're not hurting anyone and it makes them happy. Only so much can be communicated with words, sometimes we just have to accept we'll never truly know how people feel.

Kids actually deal with gender reassignment quite well...a "they are happier now" answer to their "why?" is normally good enough for them. They normally also feel quite strongly about their own sex, so no need for people to worry about them going "cool, can I be a girl too?" No need to lie about it.

We have gone from transgender to transable. That is a person who is able on the outside to disabled on the inside so they cut off a limb to be disabled. None of this is normal I don't care how you cut it.

I have seen a few people call Jenner "she". No matter what a person does to their body or what kind of hormones are taken X+Y chromosome = He.

So I know this is slightly off topic, but has anyone here ever met a transgendered person personally (by which I mean not in the closet about the fact)? I met one for the first time earlier this year on a short term job and it was definitely an interesting experience. She was a very nice person who spoke frequently about her child.

AIDS is an extremely painful disease to live with, so it seems very over the top to wish that on me just over this conversation, but if that's what kind of energy you want to put out into the world, that's your choice. I just don't think you can call other people filth while wishing other people get AIDS.

Some maturity and a less mean spirited attitude wouldn't hurt you.

Hyperbole is not really an excuse, but with this guy I'm not sure it was hyperbole. From what I've seen of his posts, dude has a lot of hatred for other people. He's a pretty nasty piece of work.

It really isn't. At some point people need to have some personal responsibility for what comes out of their mouth (or their keyboard in this case). I woudn't excuse someone for saying something racist and then saying "lol it was a joke." Same thing applies here. Even the kind of hyperbole that one uses says something about them.

Social constructs are redefined all the time. Nothing wrong with that.

There is no inherent virtue in maintaining norms.

A person's born sex really doesn't matter as much as you think it does.

If one gets gender reassignment surgery and society honors their wishes to be referred to by their preferred gender (and society is undoubtedly moving in that direction), then that person, for all intents and purposes, has changed genders. That you can point to their born sex doesn't really mean much in the scheme of things.

@GreySeal9: Sorry to tell you that is not the case. Science tells us he is a male, no matter how much we wish or want or feel. I can say that if he goes to the girls room and my daughter is there that would not be acceptable, and would use the laws accordingly.
