Is starting a fight club at your catholic highschool illegal? I want to start one but I think I will get arrested or expelled or something. I saw the movie and it seems like a great stress reliever.

I wonder if two people willingly engaging in a physical fight is illegal. o.O Isn't it like wrestling or boxing? Just... in a dis-used warehouse...

You should know better young man...

Go for it, just make sure not to get caught, and have some fun.

Haha, I've always kind of wanted to be in a fight club. I guess it'd be okay as long as you stayed off school property at all times when participating in the fight club. Be careful?

It is definitely illegal. Wrestling is only legal because it is organized, supervised and sanctioned by the school district.

Yes, infact, I'm pretty sure its illegal anywhere, but hey, go for it.

But don't trust your best friend at all. He may just be a figmant of your fractured mind.

Even if it's not on school property and it's not during school hours I still think that it would still somehow be illegal. What if somebody gets seriously injured? Who is going to be held accountable?

It is illegal. It's why people get arrested for fighting in the streets. At least, I think that's why.

I just want to point out that even if it is not done on school grounds, you can still be suspended or even expelled from school.
If you use the school system as a way to find new members, for example, you can be expelled.
We had this happen in my elementary school once. Two kids were going to fight after school, and they got a small group of about 40 kids to follow them to an alley that was about 6 blocks away from school grounds.
Some idiot recorded the fight and the school officials got a hold of the footage. Couple of days later, the kids are suspended.

Can someone please explain to me why two people consenting to fight each other is illegal? I don't see why it would be.

We actually have one of these at my school.

All the guys in it are idiots who think they're the toughest mofos ever to walk this earth. It's pretty annoying.

 Indeed! I know I certainly did! Well so I guess we established that it's illegal on school grounds... so the question is, is it illegal outside of school (for example, someone mentioned a park)?

Chuck Palahniuk, author of the cult 1996 novel Fight Club that was the basis for the 1999 movie, declined an interview request but said, "God bless these kids. I hope they're having a great time. I don't think they'd be doing it if they weren't having a great time."

ok thatwas an incredably awesome quote

If you want to relieve stress take up a real sport like League or Lawn Bowls or something. Fighting is just stupid and its not as glorified as it is in the movies - you will get hurt. Grow up Brad!

Ah, and they are worried about violent video games warping kids minds? The movie was rated R and intended for mature audiences...which means its not intended for easily influenced brain dead high school students who want to copy "cool things" they see in movies.

Depends where you do it..... In a public place it would be illegal. In a private residence it would depend on the circumstances and ages of the participants.

Most schools have their teacher and staff required by law to report a student if they have bruises and cuts anywhere visible. It's a way to make sure the students are safe, and if you don't tell them something at least convincing, they'll start an investigation, probably by starting with parents. So if I were you, I'd get sparring gear, and something to protect your teeth.
