Hey, y’all. I recently got a speeding ticket, and I was wondering, before I actually go into court, what punishment I can expect to receive. So, here’s the details: I’m 16 and was going 66 in a 35 with three other people in the car. Please, save me the moral high horse, and just tell me what I can expect. Thanks in advance.

So wait.  You have to go to court?  Why cant you just send a check to the county for the amount you owe.

do you have a license or permit? if you have a license, you'll have about a $200 fine. if you have a permit, your punishment will be based on your state or province's conditions of your permit.

Being required to pay, also the judge may require you to take a safe driver class because of the excessiveness of the infraction. At your cost, of course.

You'll probably lose your license for like 90 days and pay a fine of like 200-300. Also is this your first ticket , if not it you might lose your license for awhile.

So, does it seem unlikely that my license will be revoked/ suspended? Because, that's what I'm really worried about.

go to court...plead guilty to speeding.....pay the fine....do the driving school...and thats it...at least in california.....you probably will not get your license suspended or revoked unless you tried to outrun the cops or you were like way over the limit

It could happen because you are only 16, I think that's what would happen where I live

You are going to get hit hard for being 16 and a new driver. But it depends where you were caught speeding and since you were with other peopel, that probably will play a factor. If you can hire a laywer, you might be able to plead the charge down. I had a lawyer with me and I plead the charge down when I got my first speeding ticket to a moving violation. But you can always hope the cop doesn't show up to court and you'll luck out. Goodluck.

Edit: It also depends on how many points, if any, you already have gotten on your license already.

First offense? Probably not. Though if you were under any restrictions, that may change the punishment.
