It's about how the government constantly sit on their butts and argue like little babies. Either that, or how each government works by country and the jobs of certain individuals.

Senior year? I HAD to take mine during my 10th grade. Easiet class ever.

Anyway, government class is where you learn about the basics of government and politics. You also learn about (Im assuming you are in America) how the american government opperates and about "checks and balances" and so on and so forth.

You'll definitely be talking about the checks and balances system.

It teaches the basics of our three branches of government (hence the name). If you have half a brain and/or pay attention to the news at all it will mostly be common sense.

I'm assuming you're talking about US gov. You learn about election structure and cycles, party structure, the evolution of federalism, interest groups, campaigns and funding, spending of state and federal governments, in depth study of amendments, processes and jobs of all three branches, important supreme court cases, how the federal bureacracy functions, and other things that are useful to know so you don't sound like a dumb 12 year old when you talk about government with lame ways to get out of political arguments like "politicians they're all the same" or "the government sucks maaaaaaaaaan"

Yup. This pretty much sums it up. (although you probably will get into a little more detail about the 3 branches)

My Government final exam was fun, you basically took the American citizenship test.

Me and some kid from haiti who doesn't even speak English very well are the only two in the whole class(of about 35 students) who didn't miss a question funny if you ask me.

We had to learn what the three branches of government do, what our state government is, who the top men in our government are, as well as state government, who the Founding Fathers are and what they did, who influenced our system of government, and if you're lucky, watch 1776. If you're economics teacher is anything like mine (who also taught the same government class), they'll teach you how great capitalism is, and how they know nothing about socialism or communism.

That's because Communism* goes against any logic of economics, and any logic of human individualism.

they teach you how the government works. they go in depth about each branch of government and what they do. they also cover other forms of government such as communism and whatnot, but mostly how our government works. it was my personal favorite class my senior year, other than multimedia.

You'll learn about the system of the government and learn virtually nothing about what the real world government is about..

Thats why you take AP, where you will discuss the fundamentals for a few seconds before breaking into a debate dealing with the current Government structure :P

Well, he still got the concept wrong, regardless what your opinion is (even if you ardently believe it is fact). He defined socialism basically as a regulated market (it's far more complex than that, involving public ownership and collective decision making), and communism as some kind of state directed economy (ideally, communism doesn't involve a state, more of a power to the people, who work together for the greater good).

Taking it also (along with the economics class 2nd semester). So far we've learned the different types of government like a Parliamentary type government vs a Presidential type government, Democracy vs Dictatorship, difference between a Democracy and a Republic, and a Unitary Government vs a Federal Government. And this is only the 2nd week so we're just kind of starting to get into the swing of things.

Well, we use examples of different economies to give examples of those types of structures. Ideologically, communist economies should be structured differently, but the only examples we have are nations who follow a command economy involving most of the decisions made from a central power.

Government is basically a class where they talk about how the law and system is corrupted.
