I don't know what to say... I'm just really confused about if this movie is meant to be taken seriously or not. I would compare it to Darkplace or Scream Bloody Murder, but I'm unsure if it is supposed to be bad.
My favorite part of that movie is when the random guy shows up at the party at the end and acts like the audience is supposed to know who he is, and then states "I feel like i'm sitting on an atomic bomb waiting for it to go off."
The director claims it was supposed to be a dark comedy, but it's obvious from cast interviews and his past behavior that he intended for it to be his masterpiece. He financed the movie with $6 million of his own money (it's still a mystery how he managed to acquire $6 million in the first place) and splurged on all sorts of expensive cameras, sound stages, etc. Hilariously, lot of it was supposed to go towards a "behind the scenes" DVD.
And while the director claims that he welcomes "fans" to mock the movie at monthly viewings, he issued a C&D order against the nostalgia critic when he created a 30 minute long deconstruction of the movie.
