Europeans work with America, so it should not be a great surprise that they are doing similar things. The Cold War may have ended, but the information obtained from espionage was probably proven to be invaluable and thus the practice continued into modern world and expanded to be adequate in it.

I think anyone with a shred of common sense would have known this.

I think if anyone didn't know that information they put out wasn't capable of being watched...then they are total morons.

No one knew for certain, nor did they know how it was being done.

I'd say that is wrong. Don't speak for others. Apparently you didn't know.

I had a feeling but no, I didn't know. There was no credible evidence which confirmed it before now...or was there?

There was, just not to the scope to describe at great length the actual programs.

Every country does this, therefore it is okay. amirite or amirite?

It's more of a "No shit, Sherlock!" thing than a "It's totally okay because all my friends do it, too." thing.

All what Snowden says is not really news. This has been going on for years and years. Can't believe all the outrage being caused. People use their real nam es on facebook and such shit.

When is Snowden going to start releasing details about Russian/Chinese intelligence agencies? At the moment all he's really accomplishing is weakening Western ones and humiliating their governments.

Good point. I am wondering the same thing.

He's not the one leaking the info, he gave all his info to Greenwald/The Guardian.

"

Out of reported 15,000 pages, The Guardian has published 192 pages in fourteen releases over four months, an average of 48 pages per month, or 1.28% of the total. At this rate it will take 26 years for full release.

Edward Snowden will be 56 years old.

Glenn Greenwald will be 72.

Laura Poitras will be 75.

Alan Rusbridger will be 86.

Barton Gellman will be 78.

Julian Assange will be 68.

Chelsea Manning will be 52.

Keith Alexander will be 88.

Barack Obama will be 78.

Daniel Ellsberg will be 108.

This author will be 103."

@WiiCubeM1: yeah pretty much. Though guessing that some here like to pretend that more didn't know to downplay their own countries activities,

Like how some of the Americans have tried to interject some debate over some users not liking the US activities by using the actions of others to compare.
