So I was having a conversation with my girlfriend the other day, and we began discussing people who are paid to hold signs or spin them (sometimes) like in the video below. She pointed out that it's simply been a job created so that people can earn money and isn't really necessary seeing as how a pole or, in some cases, a machine could easily do the same job. My question was whether or not she was correct and whether or not this was even a job pre-recession. Personally I can't remember this being thing before the recession hit, but perhaps it was a thing that just hadn't been in my town. So do you guys remember this always being a thing? Or is it something new created to give people something to do while the economy improves?
The took our jerbs. ^
