i usually pick out a compelling image and beat it into submission. im afraid unitedstatesian pass and advancing strategy fandom doesn't call to my interests much. my apologies if this comes short of a true fan's standards.

Hmm I' ll give this thread a shot. Can someone make me a Mass Effect sig? I don' t have any particular preferences - just whatever you people might think is cool.

Hey guys I got a pretty basic request. I am a musical artist and I would really like a basic cover for my mixtape. I am going to give a couple ideas and then whoever gives it a tackle can put their own little artistic spin on it. Basically I want this image of my face on a grayish backround. Maybe looking out at something(a night sky, stars, something dark). I kind of want a sad feel to this. Like I am trying to be something, but right now I am not. 

I also want the words "The Basement", somewhere on the Mixtape cover. I would like them in black with a white outline, but do what you think is best. I am no artist so this project is really anybodies to play with. 

I think it can stay the same size as the picture is now.

For any questions, just post right in here, or PM me. Thanks in advance to anyone, and I look forward to seeing what you guys come up with.

@Ugalde-: i didnt really intend to finish anything. i only meant to poke at it a bit. its not great but it aint bad. i didnt save scrap work so this was all forward movement, and it found its own direction.

Ok, guys, this one's gonna be a bit more of a challenge than the banner I asked for a few years ago (my name surrounded on either side by Law, Yoshimitsu, Akuma and Liu Kang). This is for my background image, so keep the optimum size (1460 x 500) in mind. I'd like a collage of old school characters (preferably their original sprites, so nothing passed SNES/Genesis and GBA) surrounding my SN. The background is up to you. Thanks in advance, guys. You folks do some awesome work!

@PyreofKoL sounds rather in depth, specific as well. i dont think i would come up with anything you would like. i have been using pixlr. that sounds like proper shotofop for serious business. i might scratch at it bit later anyway though. ive just spent a little while with my nose sizzling against the screen, working pixel to pixel for some other stuff i was doing. you could harass @zeroyaoi about it, they have exceptional prowess regarding making signatures.

first thing i imagined was; finding some good art of all the characters. squeezing the cuss out of the settings till they all looked like they belonged together. then applying a lot of extra strokes of abstract like edges and splashes, much like the pseudo cel shaded style of the latest street fighters. arranging them well, using liu kang faded and furthest from the foreground. make him the biggest as not to diminish him, but making him considerably transparent and a bit fuzzy helping him fit in with the others a little better. i never can pull off that metal gear solid art style, where the drawing looks like it was so intense that it exploded a little.

Has anybody here tried their hand at designing a profile background yet? In my time crawling through profiles, I've seen a lot number of people who have uploaded wallpapers or pieces of art, but I have yet to see anything deliberately designed for GS's parameters. It'd be neat if we could figure out some specs in regards to how far the fading around the perimeters stretches out, and how the backgrounds adapt to window size/zoom.

on my first try i didnt like the way the banner was set on the screen, based on the dimensions they suggest. i made the image a bit taller and was a bit more pleased. im not exactly sure it was that a larger pixel height count was indeed legit for making it look better, perhaps i just happened on a better cropping of the image i was using.

though ive not kicked at it much from what i have noticed it will always start fading and resizing to 1460 across, and start chopping off heads and feet at around 700 tall. or im assuming that is the pixel height about which it starts to crop. from what i can tell, based on that bit i mentioned about picking banners. if you look around, plenty have page dimension backgrounds; so i know it crops height.

when making a, for gs, wallpaper be sure to always account for the small bar on the bottom that is obstructed unless viewing one's profile from a public perspective, and the vignette fade at the top and sides. (of which i have to zoom out to see.) it says that it will also pattern your background. im not sure if that means that the background will be more uniform throughout the rest of a profile, or just tile it in the space at the top.

i found it http://www.signaturebar.com/ ive never tried or looked in to it at all, and cant speak for it. i thought it was unusual when i happened across it in some random search i was doing recently. be a bit cautious; dont give them any information or anything. other than threads in different forums this is the only site that i can find that seems to do that sort of thing.

the banner looks good on your page by the way. it almost looks like the text being in that position wasnt just by chance.

i wouldnt trust it. having a look at it after a little. i notice pop ups getting around the block. its starts saying 'you shall not pass' without an upgrade. i call shadyness.

@PyreofKoL when i went forward chipping away to finish your banner i actually misread your request. my thought was that you wanted sprites of the characters you named. just now, looking for something for my banner, i did poke google a bit for some 16 bit sprite collages. it seems you have rather tall endeavor before you. i found most times companies are pretty close to the chest with there characters. most of what i found was too tiny to make anything out. if you ever find a means to accomplish your request, please post here that you found something, i would like knowing what you meant.

Will do. As I said, I'm not especially competent with design, but should I find away to make this happen I'll certainly let you guys know. I said before that you guys do great work and I'd like to give back pointing you in the direction of any additional resources,
