Saw Charles Bronson's Death Wish 1-3 long ago. Missed Death Wish 4 The Crackdown somehow, planning to watch it tonight. Is it good?

Seen many popular action flicks from 80's-90's from Sly, Bruce, Arnie, Mel's, Norris.

Looking for action movies from 80's-90's which were good but may have been overlooked by viewers. What cheesy action movies from 80's-90's can you recommend me OT?

One and two are worth watching but most everything afterwards is bad although part three has a few memorable scenes like the part where the thugs want to steal his car. Four? No.

Just about any 80's Chuck Norris film is worth watching at least for laughs.

Sharky's Machine, Outland, Fire Fox, Action Jackson, The Junkman, 10 to Midnight, Gorki Park, etc.., are all good.

4 is a step-down from three, but there's worse things out there. Avoid 5 like the plague.

If you're looking for a solid, underrated action movie from the 80s, I got 2 suggestions:

Runaway Train (1985) - Jon Voight & Eric Robert's are two eacaped prisoners trapped on board an train barreling through the Alaskan wilderness with no way to stop. It's a good movie with strong performances that was overlooked when it first came out because it's produced by Cannon Films, a studio know mostly for B-movie schlock. This is one of their rare instances where they made an real movie, and a good one at that.

Raw Deal (1986) - Arnold Schwarzenegger is a former FBI agent who goes undercover as a mob enforcer to bust it up from the inside-out. This feels like a movie that was written for someone other than Arnold in mind, but it has some good action, and some bad line reading by Arnold. A low key movie that is one of my favorites with Arnold.

Part four has the second best line/interaction of the franchise. "Who the f are you? Death!"

Death Wish 4 is eh along with most of them, but Death Wish 3 is a masterpiece of the highest order.

The guy who made it Michael Winner, had this idea of a refined upper class gentleman being terrorized by the lower classes who should be put in their place.

He turns the streets into a post-apocalyptic nightmare where young people are basically a lawless army raping, murdering and stealing for fun, who should all be murdered by Charles Bronson eventually inspiring everyone else to blast away all the troublesome young people.

Loading Video...

After Death Wish 3 Bronson wanted it to be serous, thinking he was in some high concept thriller and not actually what it really is, schlock.

-

Aside from Bronson, Michael Dudikoff and obviously Chuck Noris were Cannon go-to for action movies.

  • Missing In Action 1/2
  • Invasion USA
  • Delta Force
  • Avenging Force
  • American Ninja I/II/III+
  • Revenge Of The Ninja
  • Etc...

Thief (1981) - James Caan is a professional thief and ex-con who promises to to do one last job for a Chicago mob boss, before leaving the life behind to go legit & start a family. When he learns his employer has no plans to let him go, he is willing to go to any lengths to escape from under him.

This marks the directing debut of director/producer Michael Mann, whose credits include Heat, Manhunter, Collaterial and both the tv and theatrical versions of Miami Vice.

Michael Mann got me interested. Is the movie a lot like Steve Macqueen's Bullitt? Will see it, thanks for the recommendation :)

@magnum3000: It definitely has a noir feel to it, and great cinematography, but i can't make any comparisons to Bullitt, as I haven't watched that in a few years. It might be one of my favorite movies of Manns, just edging by Heat (which is by no means a slight against it, because that's a great movie right there). I just like that the scale is much smaller and intimate compared to Heat.

Heat, Collateral, Miami Vice are some pretty solid movies from Mann. Will check out Thief :)

Ninja Vengeance.

It's so bad, they actually give a canon reason in the movie the guy can't pull off real ninja moves. But it's so bad, so very very you can't stop watching bad. You should watch it.
