Gamespot... Why did you lock this post? Is free speech no longer allowed in your forums??

Locked Post: http://www.gamespot.com/forums/offtopic-discussion-314159273/site-upgrade-shame-on-you-gamespot-30846626/?messageId=341677521#js-message-3

And, to prove my point regarding the quality of the site upgrade I received email notification today, 9 days after responses were made that there were responses.

Did you take action against "iampenguin" who clearly violated forum rules by both making a flaming personal attack and using profanity in his response????

True to my word I had not revisited the site until receiving the email response with the profanity as I was amazed. I see things have not improved much as it took 30 seconds for my first "Server error"

Gamespot basically went back to the old vague, draconian terms of use, hence destroying all years of progress the community made in one sitting.

The First Amendment prevents the government from censoring your speech. CBS is not the government, but a business and can set the rules any way they want to for their forums.

My comment was not meant to be a legal judgement, rather a comment on how the forum is being managed in this case. If you don't like what users are saying then just let the thread run its course. By locking or deleting threads that do not egregiously violate policy it just incenses people further.

You have free speech to bash the new site in a multitude of stickied threads across several boards. Free speech is not being able to do whatever the hell you want.

There are plenty of places to discuss your distaste of the site. You dont get to make a new thread every time you have a new thought.

I do not mean to be condescending. You are being hypocritical by talking about free speech and then complaining about a user being allowed to use profanity. Anyway, I do not recall free speech was ever allowed here. Instead, speech is allowed within limits. Also, re-check the Terms of Use since it might have been a while since you have.

Like others mentioned before, it'll be in your best interest to read the ToU of the site if only to be familiar with the rules. If you're going to post here, you'll have to follow them. And if you're not happy with the site revamp, then there is nothing keeping you here.

I would like to add that you're welcome to create a new thread on a topic, but this particular topic has been reposted to a nauseating extent, which was the reason for the original lock.

OT is a great place to hang out and discuss all kinds of subjects, but when there are already multiple threads on the same subject, it's time to lock those that are newer.

Please note that you were not moderated in anyway, your original thread was just locked. Thanks!
