(Serious) ways to meet girls?

I'm only 19, yet I'm already feeling like I'm going to be alone the rest of my life. I just really want a girlfriend. I feel like I need to do something now, but the only thing I've thought of is signing up for interesting classes where I might meet some interesting people. That, however, isn't until next fall. Is there anything I can right now? I just feel so hopeless, it's annoying.

Do you have any friends from the past that are girls and that are not married or seen anyone? You can probably get in touch with them.
