So recently Amazon has said that it will likely use drones to deliver packages to people. Also google is working on vehicles that do not require drivers at the wheel which opens up huge possibilities for places like UPS and Fedex.

The question I have is which of these two new technologies do you think will be the most utilized by delivery companies in the future?

I don't personally know of an advantage one might have over the other, but I'm going to say the self-driving vehicles should we be able to figure out how to convert pre-existing vehicles.

Drones & self driving vehicles are such interesting topics. How did you manage turn this into something as boring as delivery companies?

I think the government will seize control of this technology at will from Amazon/Google/etc and use it to run suspected terrorists into waters and over bridges or to the FBI headquarters. :o

When the self driving vehicle pulls up to my house, how is it going to deliver the package to my door? A catapult?

You go outside and the door handle will be pre-programed with your palm print so you and only you can open the door and retrieve the package. Ta-da!

Well, they're the same thing.

generally people think of drones as flying where as the other drives.

I suppose flight has the advantage of not being restricted to roads.

UAVs would probably be safer than self-driving cars since they can stay airborne until it gets to its destination. Self-driving cars have the issue of other drivers that may hit it and then try to sue even with it being their fault.

But at the same time, the issue with the UAVs is that people will hear the word "drone" and all kinds of conspiracies will go through their heads, which explains the people who have already threatened to shoot down any Amazon drones they see.
