It's not just about feeding the starving ones, it's about giving them the support so they can become civilized like the rest of us. We're always trying to find ways to prevent deadly diseases and viruses from spreading, and alternative sources of energy to survive that are cost effective.

You don't really understand what rich people do with their money do you? They have it invested in all kinds of stuff which we couldn't do without. If they were to try to liquidate (get cash) for their money, there would be a lot of companies who's stock would probably collapse which would hurt everyone who works there, the average joe who has money invested in the stock market (for retierment or whatever) and would have a negative impact on the economy. It would hurt everyone.

On top of that, they couldn't just buy people food. First of all, we don't have enough food to end starvation, and even if we did, the technology to transport it without rotting anywhere isn't there. They would just raise the price of food trying to feed everyone and more people would starve.

I'm pretty sure everyone on that list has used some cutthroat business practices to get where they are today.

They invest in areas that make them more money not helping the poor. Please read the works of marx and you will understand the evils of the capitalist system.

Bill Gates doesn't have 76 Billion in cash. Most of that, I'd say a vast amount of that is property, stock, and other investments. Meaning most of his wealth is unspendable wealth. Same goes for almost every single one of the richest people. If you were to own 1 billion in stock your wealth would be $1 billion, but you can't spend stock, so you can't actually feed or donate to anyone using your wealth. That doesn't mean these people don't give vast amounts of money to charity. They certainly do, but the amount they are physically able to give is much smaller then their overall wealth.

You nailed it, it's mostly stock and other unspendable assets. His cash on hand is way lower, in the millions.

Throwing money at poverty doesn't fix the underlying causes. In many cases, it could make them worse (look at Natives in Canada who get everything handed to them on a silver platter and still end up alcoholics/drug abusers that contribute nothing to society).
