I have a few bucks to spend on iTunes and am looking for some new Progressive Rock/Metal bands. Thus far I have bought some Symphony X. Recommend me some more.
Feel free to mention some other metal bands too

Although i don't listen to them try Symphony X
Edit: Nevermind lol. Didn't read your post fully i thought it was one of those "read topic title" posts. Try Rush.
Tool, Nevermore, Dream Theater, Queensryche, Mastadon, Agalloch, Anathema, Porcupine Tree, Kamelot, Opeth.
Should be lots.
You can give the following bands a listen:
Andromeda
Dali's Dilemma
Sun Caged
Riverside
Pain of Salvation
Shadow Gallery
Planet X
Spheric Universe Experience
Vanden Plas
Adagio
Evergrey
Pagan's Mind
Seventh Wonder
The Flower kings
3
Scale the Summit
Marillion
Circus Maximus
[QUOTE="Mr_Splosher"]Dream Theater is the obvious must buy as they are supreme rulers of music. :P WhaDIPuNI don't like their singer.... Plus, he is already a DT fan, if I recall correctly. You'd be correct in that statement about me being a fan already. I saw someone mention Scale The Summit, I saw them live back when Dream Theater came around here last and I checked them out further and bought a few songs from Carving Desert Canyon.
Porcupine Tree
Riverside
Frost*
The Pineapple Thief
Beardfish
Oceansize
Magenta
Marillion
Spock's Beard
Phideaux
Green Carnation
The Decemberists
The Dear Hunter
The Mountain Goats
King Crimson
Pink Floyd
Rush
Opeth
Blackfield
No-Man
Frank Zappa
Jethro Tull
Edge of Sanity
Nightingale
Amplifier
Porcupine Tree (any album is fine)
Riverside (Rapid Eye Movement)
Pure Reason Revolution (The Dark Third)
Pineapple Thief (Variations on a Dream)
Anekdoten (From Within)
Frost* (Experiments in Mass Appeal)
EDIT: Also, Green Carnation. You can get Light of Day, Day of Darkness for $1 on amazon. An hour of music for a dollar is one hell of a good deal.
Coheed and Cambria
My favorite band ever... my death metal/black metal buddies love to mock me, but they make some of the most powerful, technical and beautiful music you will ever hear... although their most recent album was terrible.
Second Stage Turbine Blade has a more punk feel to it, but it very brooding and emotional.
In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3 is when the band moved to a more progessive rock direction, although it still had the poppy goodness that made their first albums so charming.
Good Appollo, I'm Burning Star 4: From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness is thier quintessential masterpiece. A must have for any fan of powerful rock music, but also fans who want something that trancends a genre.
Good Appllo, I'm Burning Star 4, Volume 2: No World For Tommorrow was dissapointing... very dissapointing. Part of the problem came from their major label deal: Columbia found From Fear Through the Eyes... too challanging, and it did not have a big pop hit like "A Favor House Atlantic" on it. They may have forced a more commercial tone.
-OPETH! and lot's of it! :D - Blackwater Park and Ghost Reveries are my favourites
-Devin Townsend, The Devin Townsend Band and The Devin Townsend Project - I'd reccomend Ziltoid The Omniscient, Ki, Synchestra and Addicted
-Dream Theater
-Anathema
-Agalloch
-Porcupine Tree
-Epica (they are Symphonic metal, but I've heard them reffered to as Prog too, try their latest album Design Your Universe
Hope that helps :D
(also I'm disappointed at there being no mention of Devin before me, he is incredible!)
