I own Star Wars on VHS, then DVD and now Blu ray. Actually bought SW on VHS twice because of the special edition. I also own the Dark Knight trilogy on DVD and Blu ray twice because of the new steelbooks. The only other film I consider rebuying again are the LoTRs. Do you do this too and how often? Why do you do it? to me it is not because of the quality. I actually don't know why...

I never buy movies anymore. Just Netflix/Amazon Prime, and occasionally I'll rent a video e.g. from Amazon if it isn't available free.

I only buy multiple versions of movies I really enjoy, otherwise, if I own it in some shape or fashion, then I'll probably never buy it again.

I have multiple versions of "Its a Mad Mad Mad Mad World" but not on purpose.

I have it on VHS, it must of been my Dads I watched it a lot as kid and for some reason I have it now.

I bought it on DVD because I don't keep a VCR in living anymore and wanted to watch it again.

A few years later I bought it on DVD because I forgot I had the first copy, when I found it they were two slightly different versions they have different front covers.

Fast forward to last year I got it as a gift from someone who thought I'd appreciate it in Blu Ray.

So I have 4 copies of the film, 1 x VHS, 2 X DVD and 1 x Blu Ray

If I ever see the Laserdisc version of it I might buy it for LOLS

I'd rebuy a few of the movies I have (Fargo, The Social Network) on bluray if they were cheap enough and the upgrade was worth it. Other than that I generally don't buy a movie twice just for extra special features or something. I usually wait until the most complete package I can buy reasonably is out and then pick it up (like I'm doing for Blue is the Warmest Color). I enjoy special features but it's not worth buying, for instance, the new The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly for no other reason than a few new extras.

I bought the LOTR EE Blu-ray boxset even though I have the three original movies on DVD (the extra 2+ hours of footage does somewhat justify it though. Everything else was just a bonus).

Also been considering re-buying the Alien quadrilogy on blu-ray if such a thing exists (might not see a huge improvement in the footage, but the higher clarity of sound is always nice).

I've been meaning to watch this, it has been sitting in my to-watch lost for several months. After experimenting with a few foreign movies I'm now more careful with what I pick to watch. As such, I just checked the content ratings of the movie and it seems to be a very well-made and passionate pornography. Maybe I'll watch it anyway but I'm intrigued that I came across someone who actually knows of the movie.

On topic: that seems to be a complete waste of money. I could see someone doing that with a handful of movies that are for one reason or another close to his/her heart. Other than that you better spend that money elsewhere. I'm still trying to fathom the concept of paying for my movies/shows lol

I could care less for extra features in films these days, though that stuff used to matter to me more back when DVDs first came out. Now stuff I might want to know about a film I can read on some corner of the internet. I mainly just get movies today strictly to watch them. I dabbled in some Blu-ray re-buys just to test the format out but I had no desire to reacquire my DVD library in another format, money could just be spent better elsewhere.

I will however buy some films that come with all those extra features if I want both the DVD and Blu-ray, got a few of those, they tend to come loaded with features I don't particularly care for and I mostly just get them for the multiple formats. But I rarely buy DVDs or Blu-rays anymore, not while there's so much these days that can be streamed.

Yeah I'll upgrade if I have the DVD version. People do this shit all the time with video game remasters, ports, remakes, etc.

Only time I double dip is for select movies, and if they're really cheap. The necessary criteria are that it has to be a movie I know I'll watch a lot, and it's gotta be cheap. Very few movies fit those criteria.

Only ever buy Blurays. And only ever buy them when very cheap ($5-7).

Only collections we have are LOTR Extended Trilogy, Dark Knight Trilogy Limited Edition (numbered) and Harry Potter Collection.

LOTR is one of the few movies I've been thinking about rebuying on Blu-Ray.

But despite being some of my favourite movies ever, I can't justify it. Realistically, I watched the bejeezus out of them on DVD, so how many times am I gonna watch the Blu-rays? Once? Twice? Still not worth it, considering that Blu-ray is eventually gonna end up just as dead as any previous format.

Rocky and Ran.

The Ran bluray basically has no features; it was abit shit. Expensive as well.

The Rocky "undisputed collection" blueray was cheap. Also awesome; with 3+ hours of extra content.

Well, I bought the LotR Extended Edition set even though I have the original DVD releases.

There are other people around here who have seen it too, I think I remember Saint talking about it before and I'm sure people like Lord_Daemon and aljosa have seen it as well. As for it being well-made pornography...there are certainly some graphic and longer sex scenes throughout, but to call it porn isn't right. I'd recommend giving it a shot if you have the time as I enjoyed it quite a bit and there's value besides watching some sex scenes, but it's also not something I'd say anyone needs to rush out and see this moment either.

Yea I wouldn't really refer to it as a pornography either I was just being hyperbolic about it. I'll most probably watch it as foreign movies really do it for me. I just wish the sexual content wasn't that explicit but not the end of the world. Personally I find extremely explicit sexual content to undermine the value of a movie or a show. It takes away something from it I don't know how to put it.
