  1. Firefly
  2. Angel
  3. Buffy
  4. Dollhouse
  5. Shield

I went back and forth about where to place Dollhouse and Shield. Both have their weak links and took half a season to get any good. Ended up giving Dollhouse the edge due to the more unique premise and blurrier lines between heroes and villains. Still consider Shield a good series despite being on the bottom of the list though. What do all you Whedonites think?

Firefly is number 1 and that's what matters.

@SOedipus: I'd be really surprised to hear someone argue with that :)

I wouldn't put Shield on the list. Joss Whedon has had some role in it but he's not the main showrunner.

As for the others I'd just put Buffy above Angel. From 2nd season to 4th Angel gets progressively worse, stirring into sitcom drama territory. From some point on it's just shit. What redeems the show is that the last season is amazing. Together with the 6th from Buffy they are the two best in both shows.

@pug987: You're right about Shield, but the show runner is Jed Whedon so I personally put in in the Whedonverse. Plus it has a similar tone as Joss shows with the awkward but likable characters and the quick shifts from drama to comedy.

I also realize that I am in the minority putting Angel above Buffy. I just liked how Angel always felt like it was building toward something, and season 5 did a great job tying it all together. Buffy had more of a monster of the week/season structure for most of it's run, which is not a bad thing, I just preferred the latter.

I actually saw like maybe five episodes of Buffy and thought it was pretty neat, but couldn't get into it because I thought it was a chick show.

Buffy way out in front with Angel in a distant second and the rest just kinda taking up space.
