For the many of users here on OT that don't make threads on a daily or weekly basic, my question is why don't you?

Why don't you make threads?

#2 Posted by narutosup (1571 posts) -

they're afraid people might not comment in their thread

#3 Edited by LJS9502_basic (150708 posts) -

I haven't ever made many threads. Just never really think about it.

There's not much on my mind these days

Last idea seemed very blu rayie and it made me rethink my life choices

Because I don't have the time to invest in coming up with a compelling discussion topic and to discuss it with everyone who responds.

This.

i rarely make threads. nothing thread-worthy really comes to mind. the ones that i do make, tend to be a bit too whimsical for how OT is now.

main threads that thrive nowadays are the more serious/controversial topics.

the fun laid back threads dont last, as there is not enough contributing members to keep it going.

Hell even the most recent PYP is severely lacking compared to how they used to be.

The bloody trolls will make your thread look stupid.

#11 Posted by dave123321 (33980 posts) -

I have regressed to making a thread and letting people carry it.

#12 Posted by LZ71 (10274 posts) -

Because I'm not smart or well informed enough to make an interesting topic off the top of my head, and I don't have the time to actually put the effort into thinking up one.

#13 Posted by SaintLeonidas (26156 posts) -

Because things rarely interest me enough to want to create a discussion or hear other people's thoughts. Robin Williams thread was one of maybe two I've made in like two years. And that was only because it was something I actually cared about.

#14 Posted by Lord_Daemon (24242 posts) -

People aren't really interested in the things that I enjoy nor are they interested in my opinion of them so I tend to just keep to myself.

#15 Posted by indzman (17560 posts) -

Yeah , i should make more threads , Hang on ...

#16 Edited by Korvus (3530 posts) -

I always feel like if I create a thread I need to reply to everyone who comments and most of the time I feel too lazy. I also feel that if I make a thread it should create serious discussion about a relevant topic that helps everyone in a different way but this is OT, so screw that and I'm going to make random threads =P

To answer TC's question, there aren't many people around to make threads anyway. Although I try sometimes anyway to try to get a little traffic flowing through.

#31 Posted by alim298 (1317 posts) -

Because few care about what I care about.

I may just stop posting altogether one day. Because that sentence applies the other way around too.

I only create threads when there's sth I want to talk about or ask for advice/reccommendations. I don't do this very often.

#33 Posted by dave123321 (33980 posts) -

Thread preview guys,

My ideas for some threads that I will make in the coming days

A thread about an upcoming movie and the book and author it is based on as well as the director

Covering those angles to have a somewhat moving topic

My idea that reminded me of something blu ray would come up with may become a thread

Share vacation experiences.

#34 Edited by Iszdope (9869 posts) -

This is crap. When you create a thread, it doesn't mean you have to acknowledge every person who posts in it. Threads are made to initiate discussion amongst the community...at least, it is for most of the time. If you're asking a specific question, then that may be a little different. Either way, it's really not required of you to respond.

If you're good at something, never do it for free.

After reading enough comments here my brain cells slowly started committing suicide one by one. I pretty much need a straw to eat now. Thanks Off Topic!

#41 Posted by awesome3496 (2162 posts) -

My threads were annoying back in the day.

#42 Posted by AmazonTreeBoa (16745 posts) -

Because I prefer to make them on other sites I visit so I can have an actual conversation with rational people who have sane views and know how to stay on topic and not go on a crybaby rant all the time.

#43 Posted by JohnF111 (14088 posts) -

Never wanted to. If i feel the need to make a thread then I'll probably do so.

#44 Posted by AutoPilotOn (8390 posts) -

I think I may have only started 1 or 2 threads even though I have have a few thousand posts lol. Never really wanted to. A lot of people here have different views and I don't feel like starting fights.

#45 Posted by dave123321 (33980 posts) -

I had feelings of reponsibility once. I'll try to find them on the google

#46 Edited by KHAndAnime (13620 posts) -

I occasionally make threads, but only when I feel like I have a topic I'd like to discuss that isn't already being discussed elsewhere. Really, it's not a big deal if users don't create threads. The real issue are the posters who make too many...

#47 Posted by Smokescreened84 (2485 posts) -

I don't make any threads because I don't want to and I don't have anything that's worth making a thread about. The last one I made was about 7 years ago or so, can't be bothered to make more.
