LOTR is very deep. Tolkien describes every single aspect of the world.

In terms of total breadth of the universe? Star Wars. In terms of fleshing out every detail in that which is spoken about? LotR.

Well, Lord of the Rings seems to go into many concepts that are hold for me to understand all at once, so I say that. Immense imagination went into creating that series, especially for one person.

This is a good poll. I'm going to say LOTR because so much has been written about it and there is somuch backstory, but Star Wars is getting there.

I'm severly biased, but I'm gonna say Star Wars. Only cause I've read a lot of books in that universe.

I'm not sure (ie could be completely off) but doesn't Elder Scrolls draw on lore from Baldur's gate and Neverwinter nights? If so, then I'd say that's fairly huge.

Lord of the rings... in terms of sheer detail, I'd say that's got the most. But it's hardly what I'd call deep.

I know nothing of Fallout.

Star Wars, I won't bother.

Warcraft. WTF why is that even there? It has the depth of a teaspoon.

No, it's not D&D based. It's kind of big compared to Warcraft, but not as big as the others. (Although Fallout really doesn't seem that deep to me. I haven't played any of the games, but it can't compare to LotR or Star Wars, can it?)

Both LOTR and Star Wars have deep back stories. Star Wars would take it from the sheer amount of comics, books, tv series ect. it has spawned

Staw Wars. The amount of writing about its extended universe puts even Star Trek to shame.

The Elder Scrolls is up there with Warcraft, the amount of lore that's crammed into those games is ridiculous.

LotR is easily the deepest as a whole though.

I've also heard from many that the Ultima series is very deep. Can anyone verify that?
