have you played this guitar?
dad owns a guitar shop...prs are a better quality build and look nicer...chances are the pickups will be straightforward to customise.
PRS will always be the better choice in comparison to a bc rich.HybridPhoenix
yep, the higher end bc rich guitars are mostly customs. prs guitars are generally good quality, unlike the generic junk that bc rich puts out. i think anyone with any sort of guitar background will tell you that a prs is preferrable to a bc rich.
of course, you have other options. try to go to a pawn shop and see if you can land a u.s. made fender strat. my friend found a '68 stratocaster for 200 bucks at a local pawn shop.

B.C rich puts out quality stuff, the b!tch for example.dont get a bc rich, I had for for like 2 weeks. they dont play that well, they are heavy.. dont like them at all.
prs, is ok. but you're paying mostly for a brand name I think they are overrated.
but.. what kind of music are you playing? its seems like it might be rock, metal. in that case I would go for a used Carvin. I got one, and i've owned, many, many guitar over the years, and played even more. I dont think a bc rich or prs, can compare to a Carvin. they are just the best value for the money, period.
Some people really like Ibanez, but that depends on if you like the necks on them, they feel a bit different. I've not been a huge fan, but I definately do like them, and some people swear by them, its maybe just getting used to it.
I remember when i switched to a new kind of pick, it was akward at first, but it helped me play much faster/cleaner and I never switched back since. sometimes you just have to get used to something.
last.. Charvel. they dont make new ones anymore, but for a rock guitar you won't find much better in that price range, a lot of shredders played on them in the 80's so you know they have a good feel. I dont know if you can find a jackon in that range that isn't clunky like the bc rich. higher model jacksons can be real nice though, but you never know what you can find used.
the best advice I can give you is, play one a lot of different ones, see what fits your hands best. and consider the style of music you play.
if you wanted to play country or jazz, I wouldnt recommend the above guitars quite as much (even though I think some of them can definately pull it off.)
and last, think of how long it will last. I dont buy new, because I will sell most of what I buy again to try something else, that way I dont lose money. experimentation is important. but dont go off and just buy some guitar because its there now and realize you dont like it after 6 months.
please dont hesitate to ask me if you need further help.
btw, what kind of music ARE you playing?
PRS are in no way overated, in many cases they're that well kept secret.
They're always on par with Gibson and Fender stats, and now that both those companies have begun to go downhill, the craftswork on an american PRS is second to none...if it suits your music.

CM3000
i play hard rock (Guns n roses, ACDC, Velvet Revolver, Aerosmith, stuff like that). i'm looking for something that has a neck that's kinda thick and buttery- like a les paul, just cheaper.
Bc Rich is solidly a metal guitar
PRS get just as heavy but can also pull off a lot of alternative and rock
